Fender dropped the name American Series as soon as they respectably could. I don't feel the AmSeries is a shame child. I know its faults too. The body on this one is at least three pieces of wood. But it plays really well, especially easy on my arthritic hands. Lot of clean sustain. Lot of Strat quack on the 2 and 4. The neck feels comfortable to play.
The owner had it for years and played it seldom. It's mint.
Still got my souped up parts Strat. Nothing subtle about it. And I have an AmPro II, very sweet tones. This AmSe is right in the middle of those. Very full tone.
It was a nostalgia purchase and wound up being a lot better sounding than the CAR 96 AmStd I had until I needed the dosh.
