    It's Sunday, August 10, 2025. Let's Reboot This Site.

This site's server is overdue for a reboot. If you've been patient enough to wait to get to this page, God love you!

Yesterday was the funeral for the wife of a friend of mine. She was only 57. A little over a year ago, she had a lump in the palm of her hand. Yep, the Big C. In her hand, of all places! Despite surgery and chemo, it kept coming back until it took her. The funeral was well attended and well done. I helped clean up the fellowship hall after the reception, so I was pretty tired afterwards.

Today is my usual Sunday, except I plan to practice more today. My big showcase event is Tuesday, so every day my program and playlist are coming together. Otherwise, it's church, lunch, maybe some late afternoon baseball, and a rest day. I hope if you've managed to get this far, you have a great day!

Looks like I'm the designated driver todaey for a jaunt around the hilltowns. Only problem is, we're taking our motorcycles, LOL.
Beautiful day for a Ride with friends followed up by a few more hours practice on the set list for upcoming gigs.

My bass playing is coming along nicely and I'm enjoying the masterclass I'm getting by learning famous bass lines played by the masters. Gettin' schooled! I have 33 of the 40 tunes memorized now which ain't too bad for an old guy!
The new bass is working out very well too.

I might even mow the lawn this morning if it dries up before the guys arrive to go riding.

    Big fun today!

yep, the site is back to being dial up modem slow again. Whew, thought I'd never get here. Ain't a whole lot new, slight bump in road for the construction due to minor medical issue for the contractor guy.

spending way too much time on FB, may need to have an intervention on myself me thinks. Going to get out of the house during the day more, already noticing the earlier sunsets. It's been dry so that helps both walking and driving after sunset.

remaining stalwart in not buying anything guitar related, though not from lack of looking. Find out next month how things are going to resolve financially. Getting back on the playing bandwagon is my goal for now.

We?re experiencing torrential rains here behind the Cheddar Curtain that have managed to flood the Wisconsin State Fair and shut it down a day early. I guess our rains are not finished as I?m hearing there are more due to arrive this afternoon. Woooohoooo, I?m glad I know how to swim!!

Not much else going on as I prepare to start playing a weekly Sunday afternoon gig in September. It should be fun with some excellent people on stage with me.

Hope all have a great week.

Did church, ran some errands, now watching so pre season NFL. Once this game is done, I?m off to my office/music room to finish prepping 2 setlists for next week.

Been doing chores and have a goal to sit down and play a bit of guitar this evening. I stretched my fingers, working them a bit too, before starting to play yesterday, and I really enjoyed the 20 minutes I could play.

I've been playing my 335 and Strats mostly.

My bonnie is a Chris Isaac fan, and we're going to see him Thursday at the Ryman. I've come to appreciate a lot of his stuff. She and I both have listened to a lot of Dire Straits and Knopfler lately.

What are you listening to these days? (I wish Cygnus-X and Phantomann could answer this one).

I just went through my preliminary setlist and found I went 1:25 long. I think I can cut a little chatter and not sacrifice one of the numbers. I did the whole thing standing, which is not my usual playing style, so I'm wondering if I want to do something new, or stick to the stool I've used. I think I should get better at performing standing up, but is this the time to try it?

Dance with who you brought to the dance.

If you?ve been playing on a stool, then keep it. Work on anything else for next time. Don?t introduce new items this close.

    Still here, fellas.

Too tired to be talkative, but glad to see Willie back in town.

    Love you all.

Yep, I figured that would be the best advice and tack to take. I ran through my set this morning seated, and it's definitely more comfortable. The standing will come as I work on it.
