    It's Sunday Again. July 6, 2025I

I pray that everyone got through the 4th of July with all fingers and eyes intact. My daughter has a Great Dane she gives tranquilizers to before the fireworks start. Animals really don't like fireworks!

As much as it's gotten to be some form of masochism, I'll probably watch baseball this afternoon. But I'm turning away from the debacles sooner and sooner. So, much like every other "retirement Sunday," I'll attend church, grab some lunch, get in some guitar practice (I'm focusing on two songs I'm hoping to perform at the folk club; we're having a theme night: Let Freedom Ring) and switch off the baseball game when it gets too awful. It's summer weather, so I'll try to get in some exercise running (but walking, mostly) before it gets too awful, as well.

    Stay cool everyone!

Doing church from home so I can watch the British F1 race live. Then a facetime call to my friend in England. After that, I need to work on 2 songs for this week's setlist.

Threw a nice party at our new place in the Berkshires with no fireworks.
Grilling, dining, good friends, fire, and no guitars. Just chill.

Of all the crazy things, I got a call from a drummer I met recently who came by to play with a group I was playing bass with. We hit the groove really well. I'm brand new to bass so, I was surprised when he called and asked if I'd like to try out playing with his other group.
I learned 10 songs yesterday and only have 30 to go! LOL.
I'm actually mortified! They have gigs booked, the first one being August 3rd, and I'm feeling the pressure. I want to do well, and bass seems to be coming kind of easily to me, but there is just sooooooooo much to learn. Even if I crash and burn I will have at least learned a bunch of good songs and have something to build on. Bass takes a lot of discipline. Repetition and precision are the key words. Having lots of fun with it!
Traded two bass combos I had for a new Fender Rumble 200. Looking forward to trying that out.

Silverstone is a fast track with some good passing opportunities. Should be a grrrreat rrrrace!
Going to see the F1 movie today. Looks like it should be quite the spectacle.

in a shocking move, I totally neglected guitar during the first and only time I've had the house to myself since the end of January. But I got in some liquid and smoke therapy and chilled with the cat, ate and slept late.

Tomorrow the electrician comes to wire the new basement bathroom. After he's done I expect the rest to be done by month's end. Presumably by August I'll be setting up my new digs and hopefully ridding the place of the miasma my nephew created down there. My biggest concern is how my cat will respond, his world is going to be turned upside down more so than mine. At least I'm aware it's going to change, he most likely has no clue.

Walked 3.5 miles yesterday with my buddies doing disc golf. I think they ought to mark the baskets with fluorescent orange instead of yellow, tons of bush whacking trying to find my disc. I definitely have a left hook issue with my form. I would compensated more but we were playing in the woods and dang trees were in the way. Fun game, but a lot of exercise for me by the 10th hole I was knackered. Definitely bringing a walking stick next time I do an excursion like that. A year ago there was no way I'd be able to done it

hot today after a relatively cool start to the weekend. looks like an unsettled patch for most of the 10-day outlook.

Will catch up and write a late Sunday morning post (it'll be more of a Monday evening post). Too tired and busy right now.
