It's now summer in every way, shape and form here in the northern hemisphere (the only one I know on here NOT from north of the equator is Sergio, and we haven't seen him in a while). Today, the expected high temperature will be 97F. Tomorrow we're supposed to break the 100F mark, so the "lazy, hazy days of summer" are upon us.
This week I drove to Pennsylvania on my annual trek to get decent fireworks for the 4th of July. State law prohibits selling anything more than sparkers and stupid little fountains, so one has to go out of state to get the real thing. It was a pleasant drive (about 90 minutes each way). Traffic was light, and now I don't have to sweat the last-minute shoppers.
I don't plan to try a run today. Twenty years ago I would have thought nothing about going out in the heat as long as I had a sweat towel and water bottle. I'm too old for that 5h!t now. So, after church I'll get some lunch and head into the relative cool of my home where baseball and guitars await me, and I'll spend my time out of the sun enjoying the day.
I hope everyone else does, too.
