A Quiet Sunday Thread for May 18, 2025

Yes, it's very quiet here on The Fender Forum. It's the time of year when students are graduating and families are taking off for the beach. I'm not headed for the beach (I'm more of a mountain man myself) but I did attend my grandson's Pre-K graduation. I don't think I've ever heard of such a thing, but it was a cute event. The kids sang a number of patriotic songs for the theme of God Bless America, wore clothing of red, white and blue, and wore mortarboards with tassels for the ceremony. I experienced a Jimmy Buffet-like event when I blew out not a flip-flop, but the rubber sole of a shoe. The dang thing literally disintegrated on me! And only one shoe; the other was undisturbed. But shoes come in pairs, so I threw them both in the trash. Oddest thing.

We've been having a touch of summer lately, with temperatures in the 80s and some pretty erratic and heavy thunderstorms. Two people were killed when lightning hit a tree and the tree fell on a car. That's pretty scary!

I plan on a quiet Sunday, as usual. The standard routine applies: Church, lunch, a brisk walk, guitar practice, and watching baseball. Not necessarily in that order. I hope all is well in this quiet corner of the Internet!

early start for me. Sold both my CS Strat and my MJT strat body this week. Officially strat less, for now. I'm down to three guitars, haven't been there in a long time. I'm in the unusual position of having extra Fender type guitar cases.

In 2 weeks, we start a new phase in the basement construction. I intend to wrap up my gear reduction by then, and engage in the work this time. I just wasn't up to it last year. I want this over with as soon as possible for better or worse.

Guitar playing has been near nonexistent, I've only been playing to check devices. I've got pickups to either try out or sell them.

I'm amazed at the ease with which you are able to sell your gear. I tried selling two guitars recently and had both sales rejected for lack of interest. I know they aren't great guitars (2013 Gibson SG and 2016 Gibson ES-335), but even at the point of nearly giving them away, I had no takers.

After a couple of days with ?severe? weather warnings we?re at a calm, gloomy upper 50 degree day here. After church we?re off to breakfast with friends and then it will be a sort of ?who knows? day.

A friend who owns around 130 guitars started putting some on Reverb and seems to be selling them pretty quickly.

Hope all have a good day.

    Been playing some bass.
I have been adding a little bottom end to the group at a weekly acoustic jam and one of the guys has asked me to join their group.
They have gigs, play simple music, and it's a lot of fun. I'm mostly sticking to the root and adding a little melody between chord changes. Really simple, groovy, grounding stuff. It's working really well and I'm truly enjoying it.

Planning a new ramp for the house so I can ride my motorcycle in and out and start riding this season. So much to do.

Sold more gear and really getting down to the bottom of my "good stuff." Feels good to clear it out and make some room.

Took a couple of 25-mile bicycle rides last week. Rain forecast for most of this week so, have to find other was to get some exercise this week. Feels good.

    Have a great week everyone!
If you're bored, you're not groovin'.
