No matter how old I get I remain a slave to my circadian rhythms. We're halfway through Spring now, and it seems no matter when I turn off the light at night, I'm opening my eyes at around 5:30. I do find myself turning off the light earlier these days, around 10:30, but this past week saw me up until nearly midnight a couple of times, and still waking up when the "blue hour" fades.
So, it's been an uneventful week for me. I had my semi-annual HVAC check-up, and it passed without needing any repair or update. Other than that, it's been a terrifically nice week weatherwise, so I got out and got my steps in nearly every day. The April Showers held off, but now the rains are expected for the next four days, so I'll mostly be staying indoors reading, watching baseball, playing guitar and tinkering on the computer.
Speaking of which, I found and downloaded a COBOL compiler. I began my career in the tech field as a COBOL programmer, and was surprised to learn that despite the rumors to the contrary, COBOL is alive, well and being actively supported. There is even a 2023 standard. So, if I can just think of a use for it, I might go back to creating compiled programs rather than writing scripts and such. Being retired allows me to waste my time that way.
Today is May the 4th, which means tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo. Enjoy them both. Unless you have other plans.
