The Sunday Thread for April 27, 2025

Considering the last post on this forum was last Sunday's post, it's not surprising this place seems like a tomb. Well, hope springs eternal, so I'm offering up this post on what is shaping up to be a gorgeous (if possibly windy) Spring day. I had a very nice week, making a day trip to Cedar Creek Cases to have a case made for my custom archtop and then an evening trip to a baseball game the next day.

Today it's routine: Church, lunch, some pickin' 'n' strummin' and watching selfsame baseball in the afternoon. How's about you? Kick start your pacemakers and let's hear what's going on!

Yes, I’ve also noticed that many of the old-timers seem to have disappeared from this group. I hope it isn’t health issues that prevents their participation here.

The first part of the day is supposed to be a very nice spring day so, after church, we’ll be popping the Corvette out for our first cruise of the season this morning. Later in the day I have to load in my equipment as we start rehearsals for the annual two week fund raiser for the American Heart Association where I play in the support band for it. It’s a local Saturday Night Live sort of show and is always a pretty good time.

Hope all have a great week.

expecting a few showers (which we can use as it's still a tad dry here) before it clears up around noon. I've been listing and selling stuff and it's practically becoming a full time job. The pay sucks, though

Had my Marshall Lead 12 combo up for sale. Then after an incident when a buyer told me that a pedal I sold had a noisy pot (we resolved the issue amicably) I am making double sure to play everything before I ship it. One thing I never did when I had a Lead 12 before was use the headphone jack. It turns out that it works really well. I've had amps with headphone jacks that would only play one side of the headphone or sound really crappy.

I tend to use one setting on stuff and never change it. Just because it was working the last time I used it, doesn't mean that a pot won't make a scratching noise when turned. Lesson learned. With the headphone jack, I can test things anytime. I used it last night to play guitar for the first time in over a month.

Phase two of construction won't be starting very soon. The plumber has to be scheduled before framing begins and they haven't been locked in yet. I'll be taking the former music room as my living quarters and I'll have my own bathroom. I'll have some room to set up stuff, just not as grandiose as I originally had hoped. I probably won't be setting up a producer desk and a media setup. That's a game time decision and part of the reason why I'm downsizing so much. I just won't have room for everything. For better or worse, I want this over with. The sooner it does, the sooner I can settle into a playing groove again.

I haven?t been posting as I?ve been busy with work, dealing with storm damage, selling gear and gigging. I?ll go into more detail later. I basically need 8 hrs sleep a day , been getting 4.
