If we'd known we were going to be the Beatles, we'd have tried harder.--George Harrison
I've never been in a shop with a lefty 5 string, so I've never even tried one. I've stuck to 4 strings, but often when I've recorded, i've needed that low string.
8-12 weeks. After the two or three days of ordering , I'll be able to put it in the back of my mind.
I used stringinstruments.com Nicest foks I've EVER deal with. Guy who owns it, Jim, tells me it started off as a guitar repair shop and just grew from there. He told me a story of meeting Leo Fender. We had some laughs. He and his colleague Neil were so nice and efficient and PROFESSIONAL.
I'm going to recommend the hell out of them.

Looks real nice, Willie. I like G&L a lot, and I think you will, too. Heck, you're getting a MTO bass, so I can't see how you'd NOT like it!

Thanks, Fred. I love Fender, and I'd not trade them unless the replacements were high cs level. That's how much I love them.
But as a lefty, I have so many more choices than I ever will with Fender. I'll be buying G&Ls if I buy any more Leo instruments. Why shouldn't I when they accommodate lefties so well?

Nice looking bass!
WOW - Hubba Hubba!
Can't wait to hear the tone report!

ASAP a review--heard from someone else that G&L is slammed and that it could take 16 weeks. I'm going to have to put it out of my mind.
I haven't had to wait for a guitar to come in that long since I bought my Ric in 78--six months or more.

Not here yet.
I've been doing a great job of keeping it out of my thoughts. Six weeks "I done good", and now, I can feel the excitement building, and I cm getting soooooo eager.

I haven't been this excited since my kids were born--but they didn't come with a hardshell case, so....

UPDATE! The update is, there is no update. I looked at the email date, and it was 8 weeks ago. It could come in now or only in 8 weeks.
No complaints: It's totally understandable in the covid situation. And G&L has given me so many options for customization I'd never get from Fender without paying custom shop prices. A Lefty 5 string Fender American JB with a maple fretboard, ash body, and transparent red finish? Forgid daboud dit.

A glimmer of hope. A guy on a G&L forum just got his at 11 weeks in.
I'm 9 weeks in. I don't know if the process is longer for a lefty, probably not. But I'm doing my best not to get my hopes up. If I get it within 3 weeks, that's be great. It is making me more eager for the bass--and that's good because when I do finally get it, my passion for it will be high.

some guy on TGP was bemoaning that Fender wasn't even taking any orders and that a Squier was taking 7-8 months and that parts were scarce due to manufacturing slowdowns/shutdowns due to Covid.
if you get yours in the next few weeks, you would be very fortunate.
"Live and learn and flip the burns"
You're right. It's almost mythical to me at this point. And in all seriousness, it's not bad to wait, to learn not to be instantly gratified. The bass will get here when it gets here. I'm really okay with that. I'm so eager to get it, and if I wait another 6 weeks, it'll be a holy grail when it gets here.

Hopefully Santa comes through for you...I mean, red IS his favourite colour!
You're right: I have hope. I knew on Oct 31st that it was too early for The Great Pumpkin to bring it. Santa bringing it would be a dream. But with Covid, I certainly understand delays. I hope I don't have to wait for the Easter Bunny to bring it. I have dentures, so the Tooth Fairy is totally out of the question: false teefs costses a bunch.

Got a call. They’re setting it up at the dealer and shipping soon. Guy says it is beautiful. Can’t wait.

Wow !!![]()
"Live and learn and flip the burns"
Wow for sure.
And I paid about the same as I would have for an AmPro II. Plus, I had a lot more colors and options to choose from--a lefty with a Fender ash instrument--rare; I've never heard anyone mention having an ash body on their Fender basses. Things Fender never offers lefties--neck profile, quarter sawn neck, trans colors, fret size choice, maple neck. AND Fender has never made a lefty 5 string as far as I can remember.
I've just bought a body for the Strat neck. I bought an AmPro Jazz neck for my Precision and then saw an incredible deal on a new, loaded, black AmPro JB. I mean to get the Strat fixed up, but I didn't expect to have a whole new JB----However, if ever buy another Fender type guitar or bass, they'll be G&Ls.

Does that mean you are in possession of it now? Or are those the shop pics?!!?
Thanks, PC
Shop pics. Fedex said they're picking it up today. I'll have to post pics with my other JBs when it comes in.

FedEx only picked it up yesterday morning, so maybe after Christmas? How about NOT! It's on a truck 3 hours away and is supped to be here tonight between 5-8pm.
Ill have to play, so I'm going to groove on that low B along with hip hop hits. It's going to rumble the neighbors' innards, but they'll think it's coming from a 19 year old's car, windows tinted just dark enough to prompt the police to pull him over while he hides the roach of his blunt.
