Sunday Morning Thread--Remember to Have a Healthy Breakfast--or bacon and eggs

Tomorrow my semester starts, and I'm doing last minute work on the last of my syllabi. Then, I have to prepare classes, including both the fun stuff and the bureaucratic stuff.

It'll be weed whacking day (not weed smoking day ;) ). Gotta get the front yard spiffy.

    Laundry

And hopefully a lot of guitar.

By the way, this was my coffee routine while I was in Paris this summer. I'd take my manuscript and go to a cafe early to work on it. Yes, I know it's very Hemingway, but there is something about Paris that makes it conducive to writing. You linger at the cafes and can stay there for two hours easily--couple of cups of fresh espresso / steamed milk.

I do hope that I may get to Paris someday, just for the sidewalk cafe experience. But alas, I believe I'll only get to live it vicariously through the people I meet and read about.

Grey drizzly morning here, they actually had a dense fog warning. Haven't seen one of those in a while. Not that I need worry about driving yet, still not behind the wheel. The eye doctor said the blood in the eye is receding, ordered a full ultrasound (all 12 hours, as we joked in the lab "this is going to be a long scan, isn't it?"). I'm seeing more light with the eye, I can now tell whether I have my eyelid open or closed most of the time. The next appointment is almost 4 weeks away. Long waiting game still. I can't imagine the stress I'd be under if I had a job that was waiting for me to return to it or be worried about losing it.

working on my travis picking, getting my rock-a-billy on. guitar playing is no longer feeling weird after my extended layoff. I think I'm liking these flatwounds.

Did I tell you I love the TFF sunday mawning coffee threads yet?

It's 12:30 here. Had a most pleasant Saturday... We went to the studio to jam with our new drummer prospect and it was a very nice surprise how we all got along fine.

it was supposed to be just a 1 hour rehearsal, 3 songs previously arranged, but we did it so smooth and cool that it was impossible not to keep going. In the end, we played 2 hours, a lot of varied 70s stuff, with deep purple, led zeppelin, creedence, pink floyd, zz top and some blues... That dude knows drumming, he used to live in Dallas, Texas, where he played in a variety of places, in rock and jazz venues.

We were so relaxed and happy with what was happening that we finished the jam playing Blitzkrieg Bop by Ramones, with everything cranked up and our drum boy nearly thrashing his kit, all 4 of us singing. It was GREAT.

Here's a collage of the jam session (I'll post some more in the proper section):

I had some beer afterwards, and went to bed a happy man. Music does that to me.

Had my coffee this morning and tonight is Tex Mex night. This is what Ill have for dinner with some tortilla nachos:

Spent the day cleaning the basement with my daughter's help. She and her son are moving back in with us for a while, so we need to make room for all her furniture and stuff. Then we had lunch at an outdoor hot dog stand on teh Farmington River (Bart's in Windsor) and now I'm really tired. We'll have two trips to the dump before we're done!
