(Maui) Waui! I'll bet that thing smokes!!
Sure is beautiful. THose things are just escalating in price beyond belief due to the Koa shortage.
I shoulda grabbed one while I had the chance awhile back; those bodies are now almost prohibitively expensive like the Brazillain Rosewood necks. Thats sweet as can be.Makes my Walnut strat look like gutter garbage.
Youre looking at close to 1 grand for a new Koa body and also grand for a new Brazillian neck.
Thanks Jerryjg. I started out building this guitar because I wanted something different, not just a production Stratocaster. I told myself if this turns out to be a tone turd I could always part it out and loose no money on the deal. To much of my surprise it turn out great . I highly recommend everyone should try this guitar buildiing experience. It makes a great conversation piece everytime I pull it out to jam with someone. Its my creation and it feels good.

Fender Stratocaster Highway One with Custom 69s
Finally got a digital camera, so here's my #1. It's a 2006-2007 Fender Deluxe Player's Stratocaster, bought new a little less than a year ago and upgraded this year with a Callaham block. Transparent Crimson on ash...mmmm.

Here are a couple of new additions to my guitar arsenal. The maple neck strat is a John Cruz Custom Shop "Master Vinage Player Series" 1955 Strat which inludes the S-1 switching system. (allows for series and parallel pickup connections) And the other is a 1960 Fender Custom Shop Seafoam Green built by Yuriy Shishkov.
The luthiers at the Fender Custom Shop build fantastic quality guitars.
Bro you are out of control! lol! wow! That stage shot is killer! I thought I had a bad habit of overamping onstage. I love to bring about three just to see the look on people's faces when it's all workin. Are you using all those live? Do tell man. And an open chassis to boot? And your sittin down gettin your hair blown off your head? You rock brother. Hey, on another note. That fulltone tape drive. How is it? I know it must be killer or you wouldn't have it, is it reliable? I use a danelecto reel echo. built like a tank and the closest I have found to tape drive with no probs. What group do you play with? ok. No more questions.

Here's some shots of my favorite strat. 1958 MIJ reissue. Made in 1992, nitro paint, custom order MIJ custom shop. This guitar is crazy. Period correct right down to the pickguard screws. Nickel hardware and the pups are fantastic and measure out all about 5.5k. The neck is the closest to a real 58 that I have ever played. The last pic is me playing it live. Love this guitar!

I use the 18 watt handwired & ext. cab for stage monitoring and the JTM45 & 2X12 cab for the audience. The open chassis was just getting tested for some reason or another and It Is a real Plexi. The tube tape echo Is the cats ass. I run through the pedalboard Into that and split It after Into the two amps. To me It Is very reliable, I use It at every gig like this. Group wise back then was called Retro Fit. I'll post some more pics of other rigs I have used for these gigs.
Oh the tone
At a bike club party,
A rig I play In the studio,
In this shot I'm using a Bassman 4X10 and a JTM45 & 2X12 cab.
I'm using the stack and the bottom 2X12 & top head (tte) on top.
Oh the tone
BWAH ha ha ha haaaa...this thread surfaces again!!!
Since I started this thread way back when, my number one has changed. Now, it's my Squier CV '50s Tele. It's that good.
Great with that Harvard clone, too. And the Vibroverb, and the Tweed Super, and...
"...pray do not imagine that those who make the noise are the only inhabitants of the field;
that, of course, they are many in number; or that, after all, they are other than the little,
shriveled, meagre, hopping, though loud and troublesome, insects of the hour."
-Edmund Burke
Scary, isn't it? My CV 50s Tele and Strats get way more attention than their more expensive siblings. A coupla' of which I've orphaned recently.
I'm just wonderin' how much more attention those Strats will get once I get off my and replace those trem blocks with some iron!
I guess I never posted in this thread because I figured you guys could see it in the avatar. Here's my Number One (because it's the Only One), in the dark with the Rebel:
This is my latest strat and my favourite

Not a great photot,
but you get the idea......
Its a tossup - between this and a monster that I have created.......
I honestly prefer the tort over white, but here is the original shot, for those of you who prefer it Untouched.

Nice. The tort makes it look badass.

Here's my #1. '08 MIA that I just love!
Heck, they're all "#1" to me -- even the "cheapest" Strat in my stable......
The best thousand-dollar guitar I ever paid five hundred bucks for.
Of course it's not exactly your "garden variety" MIM Classic '50s re-issue anymore. Lurking beneath the hood is a full set of DiMarzio Virtual Vintage pickups, connected to US-made CTS pots and CRL switch and linked together with cloth push-back wiring. A MIA vintage trem with steel block and "PATENT PENDING" saddles handles the bridge chores while a set of single-line Kluson repros keep everything in tune. For added vibe, the neck plate is stamped with a period-correct-for-1957 serial number.

My #1 is a gold on gold '82 Stratocaster, very "road worn"!
I wil never part with it!!
One of (too) many, but my current favorite. MIJ Richie Kotzen signature strat. Replaced the stock Dimarzio pickups with Texas Specials. Swamp Ash with flame maple cap. Super jumbo frets.
My other Kotzen strat. Same make and model - SOB's sold it in 2 different finishes, so of course, I had to get both. Kept the Dimarzio's in this one though.
I still same Oly White trumps them all! I love my numero uno

I keep wondering why you don't play much blues anymore
I don't know what you got against me
Whatever it is, I sure would like to know"
What's the scale length on that Jackson? It's as tall as the Chrysler Building!

On the right is my #1 since 1979; a '79 Blonde Hardtail Stratocaster
and on the left is #2; an '07 Blonde Eric Johnson Artist Series in training.
Love the EJ!
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.

Just a HWY1 upgrade. Totally stock. I love her.
Difficult question narrowing it down to only 1...but I will have to say it is my '59 Tele.
But again, it could be my NAMM 2003 Floral
i posted in this thread 4 years ago!!
heres some more photos of my same 73 strat.
i love this guitar, and recently have been really getting into the outro of 'sheep' in the studio with a drummer mate, and it sounds really good.
thats through 18W on 10, just using a good lead.
brilliant guitar.
4 years down the road, the refret is now seriously needed(as is a total pot clean job), but i think this guitar was made for cranked 18W, so it stays 'in need'
I have to choose 2
- CS Strat 60 relic
- 52/57 LP conversion
