The Sunday Thread. A Week Before Halloween

I'm a little surprised there's no Sunday thread yet, given the time. I spent all day yesterday in a "dry run" serving as a poll watcher. November 2 is Election Day in my state, and I've been hired to work as an Election Officer, so yesterday I watched process during a day of early/absentee voting. Even though it wasn't exciting or stressful, I was pretty tired at the end of the day, and so I slept in a bit this morning.

My daughter wants to treat me to a belated birthday dinner, but that's up in the air because my grandson has been ill, and now she isn't feeling all that well, either. So, my day today will be spent as a normal Sunday: Church, a little exercise, and a lot of guitar playing (I posted a help wanted query in the amplifiers section, if anyone's interested). It turns out I'm actually enjoying playing an acoustic through an amp, and tweaking the sound just a bit!

    Next Sunday is Halloween. Boo!

My hands are still in bad shape. I am having such a difficult time of getting medical help for them. I have rheumatoid for sure, and I think it's tendonitis too. It's not carpel t--I had that; symptoms are almost entirely different. I have an appt on the 27th with a ra specialist. Since the last appt, I've had X-rays and extensive bloodwork. I hope he'll have answers. I can't hold a pick sometimes.

However, my hands feel better today, and I'll play for five or ten minutes here and there. And, I'll not type much today after this. It has been hell not to be able to play. It's still terrible, and yet, today, I'll play enough to give me a moment's happiness.

last sunny day before the curtains close and we go into a stormy pattern, chilly and raw. I've had 3 days of mostly resting since the last armload of stuff went into the now-gone dumpster. Wish I had been able to pick up that guitar from the post office before the rains start. Man, do I miss having a (legal) car on the road.

Waiting on my brother to do his laundry before I start stirring up dust in the air down cellar. I'm going to approach this slow but steady. Sweep today. Vacuum floor tomorrow. Then start cleaning the walls. Sweep again, etc etc. I'd like to have that done by the end of the week, then I start putting stuff back in the music room side of the cellar, after wiping down each box. Once I'm satisfied that everything has been dusted and sanitized, I'll start setting up my guitar stuff. It won't be permanent yet but it may be a year or more before I actually build anything. I'm just going to have to play to concrete walls although I might look for moving blankets on sale and hang them. Maybe some area rugs to help tame the boing echo.

Had a lot of personal stuff going on....more than I care to out out there. I'm healthy and although it hasn't been catastrophic.....my head is full and my soul empty. This too shall pass. That said.... I have been doing some sound work I am happy with. Small to med scale. I will post a vid or two if they go. If that doesn't work they are on my FB page.

Played bass this AM for a few hundred. Crowds are coming back.
Next week I’m on guitar then done for a while with the upcoming move.
So much to get done to list the house, and we still haven’t found a place to move to.
Also had another huge analysis due in 2 weeks dropped on me EOB Friday.
    Sleep will be precious.

I spent most of the day handling the never ending arrangements for my step-dad with Alzheimer's to be moved to a nursing tomorrow. This of things I have dealt with over the past 6 months has been overwhelming and tedious. He is final going into a very nice facility that will essentially bankrupt my mom in 4 years.

    Big excitement today!

A little late to the party but still here I am.

Easy Sunday, thank God. Spent most of it with my wife. Stepdaughter had a friend over for lunch, we provided some roast chicken with avocado salad and rice. It was fun.

Now that I've got my shooter license, I'm starting the legal paperwork on purchasing a firearm. Man, I miss the 80s when you just had to go to the nearest gun shop, choose what you wanted and in about a week you'd be taking it home with all the few necessary papers, like my father did. Anyway... Brave new world.

Other than that, me and my bandmates were already planning our comeback to studio practice and gigging, but last friday our bassist felt his leg swell, went to a doctor and had to be admitted to the hospital for at least one week, having been diagnosed with a bad blood clot. Man, our friend is really going through hell, having barely survived COVID and now having to deal with this. We're praying for him and helping him and the family the best way we can.
