Is there a cure for...Tele Fever???

I think i need help.I just bought a new MIM Tele standard.I love the damn thing. The smaller frets took some getting used to,but
i'm very impressed with the quality for the money.
Now the madness is setting in.....I played a Muddy Waters Tele
and also checked out a MIM 50's classic.
Damn,i thought i was over this kinda shit(GAS).

What should i do....Please don't suggest i have myself committed,
they don't allow guitars in there!

Look for a used 50's Classic. Or a 60's Classic. Its hard to find the Muddy Waters ones used.

If you hav'ta ask, your already infected.....

I have spent way too much on guitars over the years, and still come back to the basics: Teles, Strats & (oops) LP's.

IMO, the MIM 50's Classic Teles are the best bang for the buck.

The MIM MW and 50's Classic both retail for the same price $899

You can get 30% off retail just about anywhere which makes them $630. If you do some shopping you can usually find a dealer that will sell you one in an unopened box not setup or anything for 40% off retail which makes them $540.

Dude, you are so screwed. I have 3 Teles and wouldn't mind having another. They're infectious!

    re: "...Tele fever?.."

you've heard of the saying "some hair of the dog that bit you..."?

Well, it's the same with Tele fever -- to "lower" the "fever," you just gotta "...have another Tele"!

Like Doritos™ you just can't "...have just one!"

Like Nike™ you gotta "...Just DO it!"

    Like Hell...

It's very dangerous to walk into a guitar shop with a charge card or cash burnig a hole in your pocket...especially with full blown Tele fever. Enjoy the new MW...it won't be your last Tele...I can tell.

Go try out a Gatton tle. Then be prepared to be in debt another $2000 or so.

I've had Tele Fever a couple times, but my cure isn't for everyone. Each time, I ended up buying a Les Paul.:flush

I've now got tele fever, too, My first tele is my beloved Muddy waters Tele. Within the next year, I am probably going to trade my Les Paul Studio in for either a MIM 50's Tele or maybe find a CIJ Butterscotch blonde '52 Tele (I love that 'scotch blonde!!) with a maple neck. The muddy's great for rockabilly and RnR, But I think I need the brighter maple for some funkier stuff. After I graduate, I am getting another Les Paul, though. Graduation present from my parents! This time I am looking for the Les Paul, though, not just buy on impulse. Same with the Maple board Tele. I've grown to like the hunt.

The 50's Classic will give you that snap pop twang the ash body all maple neck does that well. Think Don Rich thats about exactly how the 50's Classic sounds stock its a twang machine.

    Damn, it happened again!

I went Tele shopping today. I really liked the 72RI Custom and even the MIMs, but I fell in love with yet another Les Paul!

    I can't afford Tele Fever!:tw59

For Pete's sake. I was happy with my RC strat but reading these posts has me thinking about a tele more and more. Now I can't stop thinking about either a 50RI, a Thinline 69RI, or a Muddy Waters. I'm leaning towards the Thinline but I don't know. How is the tone of the Thinline? I also have been looking at a G&L Tribute ASAT. That is a very nice guitar also. Do the G&L pickups sound authentic? Oh darn, how will I explain it to the wife that I want another guitar? Where will I get the money? What happens if I fall out of love with my Cray? What a screwed up life I live!:wah

Luckily, I escaped with my wallet intact. It was a new Standard with a 60s neck. I'm hoping it disappears before I start my financial scheming.:)

Daddyo, this is the wrong place to hang out brother. Its a disease. It really is I really like the thinlines although at the moment I don't own any.In general they have a nice woody, air like quality behind them cause of the f-hole. If you are looking for a tele thats somewhat similar to the RC strat then definitely go with the muddy waters. Good luck in your hunt and remember it really is an addiction.
Everyone needs one good strat one good tele and one good LP IMHO:tw59
