    Wish you all well

Good luck in the future guys. I'm out of here. I hold no grudges against any of you.

And yet, it's been years since I've felt welcome here. And a lot of the people who were here felt the same way. I've heard from several. When I joined in 2008, it was fun and busy. Now, it's like a crippled hound that is begging to be put down.

Why? Ask yourselves. It's not just the rise of social media.

I've lurked here and there, hoping to see more life.

This place was important to me for so many years.

I'm not fishing for anyone to say "don't go." I just want to express my feelings about the death of this forum, and it is dying. There are about five of you who post regularly. That doth not a community make.

I am sincere when I wish you all the best and say goodbye. This is closure. No more lurking. Wish I could delete my account.

Peace, love, and good health to you all.

Feeling similar - but sorry to see you go, all the same!

    Re: Wish you all well

I'm going to say this for myself.

A couple of weeks ago I was given a "time out" in another forum. Whether or not I deserved it is not the point. What it made me realize was that I had no longer felt that I was getting anything out of it, and I was certainly not contributing anything to it. Oh sure, there were some interesting topics and people there, but I no longer felt like I was spending useful time there. So, even though my account is still valid, and the time out has been lifted, I haven't gone back. I may visit again, but I'm not going to be a daily check-in anymore.

Days go by here when no one checks in. I do visit, pretty much every day, but as a lurker. I enjoy the people here, but I don't really have anything to contribute anymore. I've pretty much turned to acoustic guitar, and none of my have a Fender name on the headstock, so all that I do here now is post a Sunday wake-up post. But I'm still here. I don't know why.

    Happy trails to you, Willie.

    Re: Wish you all well

    It's really quite simple.

This, or any forum for that matter, is what the members bring to it.

Several years ago we were all having fun and enjoying a moment in time that came and passed. People can say what they want about it. It was fun. And now it's different.

I understand feeling sad over watching yet another passage in a lifetime go by, but that is just the nature of things. Blaming the forum or making a dramatic exit announcement doesn't help anything.

The most important thing here is that you enjoyed it. Move along when you feel it, but don't taint the memories with gloom and disappointment.

I have made lifelong friends from these forums that I am truly grateful for to this day and will remain so.

This forum owes you nothing. Making an announcement about leaving makes a person look petty and ungrateful. Start your own group if that's what you feel. Just leave graciously if it's time.
If you're bored, you're not groovin'.

Well, I've been absent for quite a while, because my life changed abruptly.

But I love it here and will stick around. More later.

    Re: Wish you all well

A follow up to my post, above. I ended it by saying I was still here but I don't know why. The truth is, I like this place and I like you people. I've not met any of you face to face, and I've never played or jammed with any of you, but I'd feel honored if I did (I haven't jammed with anyone in decades, and would probably suck at, but I'd still feel honored). I do enjoy reading about those do so regularly, and you've given me some hope that I can get on stage and do likewise. I'm doing so now, not with the regularity that would actually improve my performing, but that's not something I'd even think of doing a few years ago.

So, even though I'm a minor/junior member here, there a fellowship that's missing on other forums.
