Pulled the trigger on an Acoustasonic.

Been eyeing these for a while. Was convinced I'd probably get a MIM version, but found a beautiful used American that I just had to grab. The serial number says 5 years old, but it looks like it just came from the factory. The gig bag even had all the case candy. I invested $28 and replaced the rechargeable battery - Guitar Center threw in a set of Elixirs to go along with the deal. This thing really sounds nice plugged in and I'm really happy with it. I absolutely love the neck - Plus - it weighs 4.5 pounds!

Nice! I've heard they sound great plugged in (like a plugged-in acoustic) but suck unplugged. That's probably why I haven't pursued one. Plus, it's hard to get over the visual of an "acoustic Telecaster."

When I first saw them I wasn't impressed, but they grew on me. The Fishman system is really amazing. Difinitely not for live playing unamplified.

I'ts really an acoustic simulator on steroids. It sounds really nice - you can replicate large-body or small body acoustics with quite a bit of flexibility. There is a setting for "electric" - there it sounds like a Tele - although I'm not the greatest expert when it comes to electrics. Plays more like an electric though.

That's quite interesting. So if I read you correctly, it could be used at an open mic where acoustic guitars are typically plugged into a house sound system, and the result is an acoustic guitar that is "tuned" to one's preferred sound (big body, parlor, deep, etc.)? When you say it plays like an electric, does that mean it has a narrow nut, round radius neck and uses light gauge strings?
