Hey Guys, I'm hoping somebody can help me figure out a volume output issue with a Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue. My friend purchased it new in 2017 (build date 09-17) PCB version is 2002. He said it was working fine one day but he was pushing it a bit while jamming up north, he drove home after the jam session, put it away then the next time he tried to play it it had low volume. he tried swapping tubes. It didn't have any distortion, just low volume. he gave it to me and I did the following:
1) tapped on tubes - no microphonic tubes
2) swapped preamp tubes one at a time with another tube, then swapped out everything except the rectifier.
3) ordered and installed new electrolytics ( it had IC caps and I have seen some of these fail with low mileage )
4) inspected and resoldered practically every solder joint ( might have missed a few but everything looked good here
5) started measuring voltages of all the test points..
I found two points of interest when measuring.. the volume came alive when I was probing TP-25 ( R34) but when I tried messing with the solder joints in the area with a wooden chop stick the volume drop never returned. the second interesting behavior: I found a slight pop and volume increase TP-37 ( V7-3) and this one did drop the volume again slightly when I pushed the pin the other way so I suspect I need to re-tension this pin.
Please see the voltage measurements below:
