    New Old Camera!!!

My brother and sister-in-law gave me an old Nikon D70 that someone else gave them. They shoot Canon, so it was worthless to them.
I got it and, though my D5000 is a 100 times better than the D70, it still works really well and will work perfectly as a second body I can mount my 200mm lens on and just leave it.
I did notice that the photos are not as sharp at high magnification, and the CPU is really slow compared to the D5000. But other than that, it's really cool and will even take older auto-focus Nikon lenses that don't have a motor in them. It actually has about 200 less shutter actuations than my D5000. The D70 has 9900, and my D5000 has 10100.

    Enjoy!

Here are the first test shots from the D70: (Click for all the photos)

yeah Im sticking with my Canon 40D until Sony works out their menus.

Before high iso over-eagerness was in full effect, I feel like these cameras had much better color.

I love sharpness, but I do NOT like consumer camera colors. And Im not gonna hump a 1DsMKIII

Ill put the color of my 40D and Leica 100mm APO Macro-Elmarit up against most anything 35mm or smaller:

I also love the Pastels of the better Olympus OM glass, like my 90/2 Auto-Macro:

I still have my old D70 as well as a D200. Great cameras IMO.
I've gotten really nice 16x20 inch prints out of my D70 and some nice glass.
Now I use my D800 for most things, but my D70 is still my trasher camera.
You always nail the lighting and exposure on your photographs. Really nice work.

I'd like to get a lens or two that use the focus motor in the body.
I hope I can pick then up cheap because of the older technology.

What's good in the older lenses? I'd like a short multi purpose zoom add maybe a good high quality 200mm.

I did too! Was expecting to hear about a plate film Miniature Speed Graphic, or something equally old.

Well, at least for me, I've been seeing my favorite camera coming up on craigslist. The Mamyia 645 1000s and the RZ67...
