    A simple guy's simple pleasure

Ok, you guys do know I like fancy beers and whiskies, but as a matter of fact I am very fond of the simpler things in life, and that applies to guitars, cars, and beer.

After a good couple of decades drinking Bud and Heineken as my main late night thirst quenchers, I was shopping at Walmart and who do I meet?

Believe it or not, Miller wasn't produced over here nor was imported to this particular neck of the woods until now. Last time I had one of those I was still dating my first girlfriend... I'd come home from her house, grab a Miller and listen to Dark Side of the Moon...

I thought this was going to be about WD-40!

I haven't had Miller beer in years. I'd try it again.

LOL well, WD40 helps a lot too, but I wouldn't try to taste it.

As for the Miller, I know it's just Miller... But some things are really hard to reach when you live in other countries. Luckily, we have plenty of Bud, All Star Chuck Taylors and Ford automobiles produced here, so my basic instincts are always satisfied...

As for guitars, our current economic crisis makes me thank the Lord for having bought my Fender, Boss, Orange and Danelectro gear soon enough. Times are pretty hard now.

A Fender Am Std Strat costs about double what i paid for mine about one year ago. Sad but true.

Anyway, the Miller tastes good. :)

I grew up with Coors, but it was only distributed in a limited area, it was unavaillable in many parts of the country, (remember the plot for Smokey and the Bandit). Up until the 80's most everybody here drank Coors, (we even had a warehouse in my little town). It really irritated the union reps for the crafts at the local mines that everybody would want that "non union" beer.
When Bud introduced Bud Lite, we all tried it, (it tastes a lot like Coors), soon more, and more folks were buying it, (even a couple of my brother in laws), now only a few in my friends circle drink Coors.
They say it has dropped to third most popular in my town now!

That Miller Genuine Draft came out during my college years, I believe - but the first beer I ever had (not counting keg parties) was Miller High Life. I still have it from time to time - in fact, there's part of a sixer sitting in my fridge as we speak.

    Love it!

I was too young the first time I got drunk--it took four Miller ponies, just four little ponies.

I don't drink a lot, but when I do, I like a good pilsner. Of course I think German beer is the best! But I'll take a Sam Adams lager if there's none to be had. Or a Yuengling, an under appreciated and fairly cheap beer.

I just can't drink Miller or Bud. No offense, but they're just not to my taste.

    You elitist scoundrel!

I fart in your general direction!

(Truth be told: I actually am one of those guys who can wax eloquent about the ultra-hopped IPA's and Double IPA's, so although I like a nice simple Pils on a hot day, it's not my go-to.)

When someone gets me a free beer at a bar, my favorite kind is whatever they're buying. When I buy my own, it'll be a good hoppy IPA if possible, or (now that the weather's turned) a nice, rich, dark, fragrant porter.

Ha ha ha. Well played, RJ!

Guess that puts a whole new meaning on "cork sniffer."

The Bar around the corner from work, had Hamm's draft in very large chilled glasses for 50 cents. Tasted real good. Made us all look forward to Friday after work. Of course, that was back when the cops still had a sense of humor.

They discontinued Lucky Lager in favor of Lucky Draft years ago. Sigh...

A 12 pack of Bud, a bag of potato chips, and a D-18 Martin were my evening's entertainment.

That was before I got my Strat Ultra, Peavey VTM 120 amp head and 412m speaker box. (After all, this is the Fender Forum.) Along with a Peavey Valverb, the setup could do just about anything.

Oh, I get the feeling, brother!

sometimes a sixpack of bud and my southern cross series strat is all I need to chill and forget about the outer world.
