    Love. But nevermind.

Ok, this IS gonna sound dumb, but whatever. I'm sure many of you will know what I'm talking about.

I just came home after attending Father's day at my 7 year-old daughter's school and the special thing was that the kids sang a song for us fathers which in English would be called "My old friend".

I cried from the beginning to the end, and a hug never felt so sincere and good as the one I gave her after she finished singing and they all came down from the stage.

I guess fathers are like that. It's true, it's beautiful and I'm glad I'm there for her.

It's not easy to be a divorced father, when you love your son/daughter so much.

Just sat down, opened a beer and grabbed Jessica (my Am Std Strat) to play some Beatles on my own. Lots of emotion for one day.

Thanks for reading this, friends. I needed to share...

    That was quite inspirational.

Love is the greatest bond between a father and his children. It's cool, Sergio. Let those tears fall.

They don't always have to be your own either. We took in a few strays that needed a place to stay over the years. A friend of my youngest, (who stayed with us while I made her finish high school), called once on a father's day, and it really was special!

Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing, de Melo.

The feelings don't change when they get older, either. My "little girl" (who is 19) is still very precious to me. She plays keyboard and it's so rewarding to play with her from time to time.

Those are the kinds of tears you're supposed to cry, Bro!

I know what you mean. Love, gratitude and not a little pride. My kids, 14 & 15 are past the cute tyke years but they can still pull the trigger on those feelings. Last Friday my son and I went to the "mandatory" Freshman's Father and Son banquet at his new high school, Christian Brothers. When listening to the keynote speaker, the U of M's athletic director and also an alumni of CBHS relate his high school experience and subsequent life successes, then to be welcomed as first generation family I looked at Joe and had to choke back the tears. There were some in attendance that were fifth generation, bringing their boys in. We were all welcomed as "Brothers for Life" and that was extremely humbling. Lot of sacrifice to give these kids the best we can and to see them work hard and not take it for granted is just awesome. He wants to be State Champion in Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling, then go to Annapolis on scholarship, then on to the Armed Forces. I never had his drive as a kid.
