I need a suggestion on bridge pickup 1993 USA standard stratocaster

Hello to everyone! I'm new on this forum. My name is Gian Piero,I live in Italy(Sardinia),26 years of guitar playing and a totally love for the Stratocaster. Before to start my question,I would apologize to you for my bad english(don't speak very well)...I will try my best.I have a 1993 Stratocaster USA standard. Many years ago I replaced the bridge pickup with a Seymour Duncan Jbjr miniHumbucker but unfortunately the stock Pickup were lost.I remember it was a wonderful pickup and perfectly balanced with the others.I replaced the SD with the bridge pickup of my other Stratocaster ( 2004-2005 years) but the combination is not great.I would return the old 1993 in stock condition. The option are 1) Find a 1993 bridge pickup...2) Buy a complete set of new pickup 3) build a one custom hand-made matching the other original pickup.I would appreciate wathever suggestion from you, thanks in advance.best regards.

Welcome! And your English is pretty good; we can all understand what you're saying with no problems.

What kind of music do you play? That makes a big difference in what kind of pickup you want.

I think the American Standard pickups from 2008 on are really good; they changed again in 2013, I think, but they're good too.

If you want a more vintage sound, a lot of people here recommend Yngwie pickups. I have Fender 57/61s on one AmStd Strat and am happy beyond all with it.

Thanks for the quick reply,Willie.I want the guitar return to stock condition,I'm looking for the best replacement of the bridge pickup. The others original pickup are fine,no need of substitute them.I would consider to buy a standard bridge pick up from 1993 but I cannot find one.Over the years they are not the same.

The bridge pickup from the Fat 50's or Texas Specials set should perform well with your existing pickups.

Your english is fine -- certainly better than my Italian.

Thanks phantomman,me too was thinking the fat 50',but my strat has flat pole pickups and fat 50' aren't sold separately, from what I read. Just another question: the 1993 standard pickups all have the same impedence resistant value? does it matter?

You can often find individual pickups from a specific set on Ebay. Expect to pay about $75 USD for a Fat 50 or Texas Special.

Coil impedance is but one parameter that determines how hot a particular pickup is wound. There are others but DC resistance is the most commonly-used measurement. Generally speaking, the higher the impedance the higher the output. Factory Strats are usually configured with a higher-gain pickup in the bridge position -- around an eight to ten percent increase if memory serves me. Thus while a middle and neck coil might measure 6.3 KΩ, the bridge will likely be roughly closer to 7.2 KΩ.

    Good luck with your search.

I owned a 96 AmStd and had it for a few years, recorded with it, etc. Now I have a 2008, and the pickups sound very similar. I think that even if you get a modern Fender AmStd pickup, it's going to sound really close to what you're looking for. Now the ones made since 2013 might be fatter.
