Is there anything special about these ? What would be a going price in a nice condition with very view dings or laquer checking.

I have played Teles from that era and they are hit and miss tone wise.
In a nut shell nothing special now but in the future....who knows.
Regardless (and I am assuming we are talking about a regular Tele and not a Custom or a Deluxe), anything with 4 bolts and generally original are rising in price. I remember seeing these things for around 1500 bucks for clean and original and now the price is about double to around 3 - 3.5K for nice, original and pretty minty.
Good original and showing reasonable to somewhat heavy wear seem to be commanding prices of around 1 - 1.5K right now.
Either way, I think there will be a rise in price on these when there is a 4 bolt neck.
The Deluxe and the Custom had 3 bolt necks in this period AFAIK and they do not command as much but the Custom with the single/humbucker enjoys the "Keith Richards Effect" and people dig them.
I have played both Custom and Deluxe and it ain't my cup of tea. A regular Telecaster with a humbucker in the neck would do the trick...

I have an all black 78.It's lighter then my MIJ 62 RI Tele.
I swapped the pickups for Bareknuckle Flat 50's and replaced the six saddle bridge.Still have the original parts.
It sounds and plays great.
Nice if you want a good Tele with a bit of charm and MoJo and you wont have to worry about adding more dings.
