Got a chance to get a minty USA 2004 american std strat in chrome red with maple neck; has the 50th anniv neck plate; checked the serial number and it was made in 9/2004. What should I offer? It is in minty condition with little wear...no case.....

$500
You can offer that but it will probably sell for a couple of hundred more.
I usually see them go for $600-$800 depending on condition/case/shipping fees. In the $800 range I'd expect minty and original case with candy.
I gave $650 total for my Chrome Red '01 hard tail. It was modded (DiMarzio single sized 'bucker in bridge w/push pull on 2d tone knob). It came with the original hard, case creme knobs and the original white knobs.
The only flaw was a round pin head sized drill mark in the center of the lower bout horn (only in the paint) where it looked like someone was contemplating a left hand conversion.
IMHO, I'd think you'd be hard pressed to snag it for less than $600.
I'm in the $500-$600 range. They are great guitars. I picked up a genuine NOS '01 for $500 not too long ago. That was in-the-box and unplayed. Prices on Strats really dropping fast lately.

I bought my red 2004 Strat in 2004 at GC for whatever they retailed for at the time (I might have traded some stuff and paid the difference - can't remember). Right after getting it, all the pickups were replaced with DiMarzio Virtual Vintage pickups and Graphite saddles were installed. The guitar has had tons of gig and studio work and is still my main guitar.
Wish I had my 2005 (?) 50th anniversary Strat back. Butterscotch blonde and black. I don't remember who bought it but they're here somewhere.
TT

It would seem foolish to pay more than what one could get a Player's Series guitar or Highway One or American Series - I would not pay more than $500 unless totally cherry because the new offerings are so well done (so I say)
