    P-90 into 'raw' amp

didn't wanna say tweed cause it could be F brown, etc

    but, anyway, holy cow!

i never liked buckers into the tweed n other raw amps we built, so we always assumed they were best w SC PUs and Teles in particular

but I'm here to tell a raunchy P-90 bridge PU into one just KILLS...

    Oh, so YOU'RE the one.......

    that let the secret out!

I agree that humbuckers can overpower those amps in a bad way. I love using the LP Jr., Tele, and Strats into them though. The amp doesn't have to be Fender either, I have a circa 1948 Gibson BR-6 that behaves the same way. Single coils make her scream, wiggle and dance.

    Re: P-90 into 'raw' amp

I had a Les Paul Junior (a "real" Junior with a single P-90) and it was incredible through a raw amp! It wasn't just the P-90 though. I've had other P-90 guitars that weren't as cool sounding.

I like my Gary Moore Les Paul with raw amps, but the Burstbucker 1 pickups are pretty low power (under 7.5k resistance) and maybe it's the unbalanced coils that make them sound pretty raw, almost P-90, like.

Yeah, the one i built will either sustain indef and/or feedback depending how close you get and how much you wiggle the body. It's unreal, truly alive in a kinda Joe Walsh meets Crazy Horse way... :)
