Refin, there is a guy on ebay who is selling Supro amps for 4 grand, too - and I emailed him to see if he was serious, and he claims to have sold similar items in Hollywood to movie people (like, for props) for big dollars. It seems that - even in this terrible economy - there are no shortage of 's that are willing to pay top dollar for old stuff.

I sold a Ram's Head Big Muff Pi in GC - VGC for $245 on the bay, and at the same time, some guy sold a Mint Condition Triangle Big Muff for about $2200!!!

That does seem pretty absurd...but then I'm a guy that will play it, not stick it in a closet and have wet dreams about it being worth 2x as much in 15 years. To me that's a $600 amp, if it can't go for less I'd rather build one.

The original shipping box thing is pretty cool I guess...I have the original box for my Echoplex. Can't figure out what to do with it though other than keep crap in it in the closet.

If that Jeff Bumunds(sp?) person was famous, maybe there'd be a potentially expensive story.
It sure is clean, aside from the initials on the speaker.
    But geeze.

Maybe I should have hung onto my '64 a while longer.

Ironically, last night I went to a rehearsal and a friend has the SAME amp that he might consider letting go of......it sure sounded great!

I'm so glad I bought my 62 strat when it was called used instead of vintage and not considered rare. I swapped a LPB1 even up for it.

Re: $3999 For A Non Reverb Princeton?!?

I hate to be the only guy in disagreement, but ...

Let me make it clear that I am not a collector of musical gear. My equipment is equipment, not for display purposes. I have a few old amps and guitars, but I bought them all as players.

However, some things I do collect. Such as books. Let's say a rare book in very fine condition (just under near mint) - no dings, no yellowing, square and tight, with dustjacket in the same condition, and it sells for X dollars. The same book, in mint condition (AS NEW) can easily sell for twiceor three times that, even more (some auction results are jaw-dropping).

Princetons from the mid 60s can sell for $1200 in nice condition. From what I see in this ad, the amp is as new and comes in the original box. If the ad is accurate, there may not be a finer one out there. OF COURSE, it ain't gonna sound any better than just a good one, but collectors don't buy 'em to play 'em. And they are all nuts. Including me.

4 large is waaaaay too much for any Princeton---even if Slash had spit up on it as an infant. You would die of before you could flip it for a profit in your lifetime.
