Wave Invasion performed at the Budweiser tent at the Southern California Fair on October 9th. We had 2 one hour sets in the afternoon. When we arrived ther was a group called American Honey performing. They were a young C&W type group with 3 girl singers who traded off on lead vocals. They were backed by a trio consisting of 2 guitar players and a drummer. They had a really full sound and you didn't notice the lack of a bass player. Stepping out in front we found it to be incredibly loud for the area that we were in. During the set up we talked to the sound guy and explained that we were kind of different from the vocal acts he'd been working with. We switch off on leads, sometines in the middle of a phrase, so it's hard for somemone who is not familiar with the act to mix us. We convinced him to let us set our levels onstage and for him to add in anything that might not be coming through in the mix. In other words, Sound Reinforcement, not Public Address. Fortunately he was willing to work with us and later told us that he really appreciated how easy we made it for him. We arranged the stage in our classic Ventures setup with th drums to one side of us instaed of behind and in teh middle. A lot of our fans love to watch Jeff play so we put him right out there up front with the rest of us when there's room onstage. It also makes it easier for us to hear each other.

I was using my Wilson Bros VM65 in to the Boss GT6 for FX and the old Vox Super Berkely and Fender Super Amp. gary played his RI jazzmaster and RI Jaguar through his 1964 Bandmaster with the original outboard 1963 Reverb tank. Richard had his 1965 P-Bass and Bassman 400 amp. It was one of those great days where everything went over with the crowd and the band was playing really well. The audience was great and we had one of best shows of the year. There were people seated at all the tables for the entire time we were playing. When we came back for the second set after a half hour break they were still there and stayed for the entire second show as well. A lot of people talked to us after the show and told us how much they enjoyed the show and the music. All in all a fun day with great guys in the band.
