Re: Wat ever happened to Page's tele

I read an interview where Mr. Page stated that a "friend" refin'd the Dragon as a surprise while watching Page's house .

Page said the body was trash after that but the neck may still live on another guitar.

Moral of the story: Tell all house sitters that guitar refinishing is grounds for corporal punishment...

Unless you're house sitter friend is Dave Johnson, Scott Lentz, or Tom Murphy etc...

I had heard that the sound was ruined when the body was repainted. I believe the neck is on the Brown tele he used in on some tracks from In Through The Out Door and live and in the studio with The Firm.

The one you see on this picture, yes. Clear custom cut guard with foil underneat. I've changed that since the picture was taken to with some iridescent Temkin mica.

You'll find all the details in this thread:

It can't be cut with scissors. The best way to shape your pickguard is to build a template and route it. You can also do what I did, use hand saws, files and sand paper. It's really not that hard. You just need to take your time.

The foil is simply held in place with the screws under the pickguard. Like I said, there's no more foil on mine. What you want rather than foil is some iridescent mica to reflect and diffract the light. It has the same look and effect as the guard Page had on his Tele.
