it's been 10 years since my last new computer, and it feels good! i bought this http://www.apple.com/imac/ with the 21.5" display. i used to have an old G3 laptop which was fine for the little that i did on it. but now i'm current, only problem is i have to figure out what to do about the recording situation. guess i'm going to have to search the digidesign site. oh well, i guess that's the price of admission.

Smokin'! An excellent choice (and the new iMac display is SO freakin' sweet).
You don't need no Digidesign! It came with GarageBand, which is plenty of horsepower for most home recordists... and if not, there's Logic Express, Digital Performer... heck, there's even a free Audacity version for Mac OS now.

Feel free, Chuck. I'm an ex-ProToolser myself. Depending on what you want to do, there may be lots of better ways (and cheaper ones, for sure).
