    WTF?!?!?!?

Well I just went to a small get together with some old friends from highschool, we mainly all got together to celebrate the life of our dear friend (A Teacher of mine who just recently passed) . I exchanged emails with some of them who I haven't seen, my one friend had been sending emails to my old AOL account, which is still there but never really checked or used.

    Here's where things get screwy...

So I get home and log into the aol and it appears that my account was hacked... WTF! Random emails sent from "Me" to people I don't even know... porn emails up the Wazoo, signups for emags and all this crazy stuff, apparently someone tried to change my password as well. This is weird, I've had this aol account forever , luckily I don't use it for anything important (don't really use it at all anymore) The last time I remember even using it was maybe a year ago for cryin' out loud. Looks like I'm gonna be changing passwords for important stuff now. Not Cool. I'm pretty steamed.

About a year ago my PayPal account was hacked and some clown charged 5 grand worth of stuff to my account (which at the time I had my bank connected to my paypal account...that has since changed) They took care of it and the money was returned to my account ASAP. They did a bang up job. Now This.

    Re: WTF?!?!?!?

Whoa. That sucks a lot. If it were Outlook or some other E-mail client, I'd suspect an E-mail virus. But I don't know if that can happen with web-based mail like AOL. Weird that somebody would hack into a stranger's account just to send offensive E-mail to his address book...but then, there are lots of assholes with too much time on their hands out there.

I really only use my AOL address to communicate privately with people connected to this board...but I guess I'll be checking it more often now, to make sure nobody's been messing with it. If anybody here gets an E-mail from me that's obnoxious (more so than usual, I mean ), let me know!

    Re: WTF?!?!?!?

The weird thing is that I don't know who any of these people that emails were sent too, I saw the email that my friend had sent me, it wasn't to long ago and there was a response that just said "Hi Age/Sex/Location/ pics?" It kind of all comes together now when I think about it, when I saw her I gave her a very enthusiastic wave and a hello and she kind of looked at me like I was some weirdo.

    I just don't get it.

Well, I'm glad to have an explanation for the E-mail I got from you asking what I was wearing.

That sucks man...I'm pretty anal when it comes to spyware and viruses...I routinely run Spy Sweeper and clear cookies, pretty much every day, and everytime I punch in a credit card # anywhere for sure...not sure how much good any of it actually does but I've been lucky so far.

Though I did get a $9 charge from Netflix on my last credit card bill, and I've never used them. According to the provider it's a subscription based account, so someone's getting free movie rentals on me. I'm watching that account like a hawk now, and will close it if need be.
