Mmmm....tweeeeeeed...

i'm down! looks like you picked the right weapon to unleash those with!
"don't worry, i'm a professional!"
I went up to a friend's place yesterday and played through little pile of tweeds: Champion 600, Champ, Deluxe, Vibrolux, Tremolux. I didn't get the years of them but the Champion is obviously ancient, Deluxe is a 5C3, and the others are all Vib and Trem are pre-59. It was a lot of fun and tweed really is a different world. I also played through a tweed Pro not long ago and loved it.
So, refin, let me know when is good for you and I will drop by to do the same at your place. I will have to wear a lobster bib for the drool, of course.
Now for the unfair question: which is your fave?

Hey,that must have been fun, your friend has a nice collection!
It's a long way to Florida, but come on down and let's jam!
I don't really have a fav.The Pro was the first one I bought back in '76,and with a JBL D-130 it was great. It's down right now---I removed a pro installed master volume, and I'm going to wire it stock. The Bassman was my stage amp for a few years, the Deluxe goes out on small gigs, and the Tremolux isn't loud enough (which is odd, because I understand it is basically a Deluxe in a larger cab with tremelo).
On that subject, both the Deluxe and Tremolux had shot output trannies when I got them.I didn't know what to buy,so I ordered whatever stock 2-6V6 model Fender had at the time (this was mid '90s,don't think I had too many options). The Deluxe pretty much came back roaring, but the Tremolux still has about the same power as a Champ, maybe a hair more--Can't figure that one out.
The Bassman is my go-to amp though, nothing sounds like that one!

refin, FWIW, the Tremolux I played seemed to be somewhat louder than the Deluxe. It might have been just more "full" or something, but not objectively louder. It was not unlike a repro of a tweed Super I played recently. Mind you, that little Deluxe was pretty loud. I am the bozo who sold him the Tremolux about 5 years ago. I was getting out of playing and didn't think I would need it. What a dope. I would encourage you to get the right parts for the Tremolux. You might be pleasantly surprised.
Anyway, I can see why you don't have a fave. Different sounds, different moods, different music. I would be the same.
