    Vox ToneLab

Anybody use one of these VOX ToneLab units?

I've not used effects for the longest time, so don't know much about the new stuff.

I did hear one onstage the other night and it sounded pretty good.

I think with any pre-programmable digital modeling whatever, it will only sound as good as the time you take to dial it in. I've heard a guy sound awesome with a Line 6 Spider. He'd be the only one I've witnessed, though. He obviously managed to disable all the crap that goes into one, find the good basic sounds, and tweak.

    I'm not that patient.

neither am i. we had a band that i used to mix and the guitar player switched to using one of those vox amps, he had tweaked and fiddled every knob. it did sound really good. we did find that it sounded way better ran direct through a countryman di with some nice outboard compression as opposed to micing the amp. YMMV.

overall though i've been pretty impressed with the vox modeling stuff.
