Mustang/ Strat compatibility- please read
The mustang is 24" scale neck
The musicmaster is 22.5" Scale neck
The Stratocaster is 25.5" scale neck
The 22.5" Musicmaster neck fits on a 24" mustang. 1.5" in difference. The strat is 25.5", alsoi 1.5"in difference. Why doesnt a strat neck intonate on a mustang?

If the scale length isnt the same it will not intonate.... period.
Theres no way a 22.5" neck will intonate on a guitar that had a 24" neck without moving the bridge.

yes it does
the mustang came in 22.5 and 24 necks. same guitar, bridge, everything

The distance between the nut and the 12th fret and the 12th fret and the bridge has to be the same, or the guitar won't intonate.

It is mathematically impossible to swap necks from different scale length instruments and expect them to intonate correctly.
Here is an article that may help;

It may have came in both scale lengths but theyre certainly not interchangeable..... it will not work.

That is untrue.
A different scale length neck can be put on a guitar and intonate properly as long as it was designed to do so.
The location of the 12th fret will change as will the number of frets.
Sketch a guitar with a 3" scale length. The 12th fret will be 1-1/2" from the bridge and nut.
Now extend the neck to 3-1/2" (baritone conversion ;) ). The 12th fret will be 1-3/4" from the bridge and nut.
The pickups may not end up at the ideal positions (neck p/u not at the 24th fret position) but it will work.
I don't know if Fender did this with Jaguar/Jazzmaster or long and short scale Mustangs.
This will not work between a Mustang and a Strat because they weren't designed that way.

You are correct. Conversion scale length necks are available from Warmoth, USACG, etc. for strats as an example. I was speaking in a more general sense. 'Mathematically impossible ' was not the right phrase to use to get my point across. :)
