    Pinch Harmonics on DRRI

Not sure if I'm posting in the right section.

I've been trying to learn how to play pinch harmonics. On my DRRI, the harmonics are faint or no existant. When I try on my son's Marshall Valvestate, I can get them pretty clear.

Is this due to lack of gain?

I tried with a Blues Driver pedal on the DRRI and harmonics came out better, but still not as loud or crisp as the notes.

I really can't crank the DRRI up past 4 without major sound overload in the house. Would another "gain" pedal work, or do I need another amp?

I'm working on pinch harmonics to try to get that Billy Gibbons La Grange sound.

I have no problems getting pinch harmonics with my DRRI on 1.5 or 2, my Les Paul and a Fulltone OCD....nice Gibbonsy grind is attainable with the OCD.

Assuming you've got the technique down properly, an OCD (or any other higher gain pedal) will get you there no problem....

i have no problem squeling with my DRRI, for lead i send a little bit of fuzz through my box of rock, with my 80's pink ibanez i hardly need any gain. I haven't tried the Blues Driver but my guess is you'll need a tad more drive. It's time to go pedalshopping! what joy!

I have no problem getting them on an acoustic.

Sure, gain can help, along with EQ (probably most important)

I remember it taking a lot of work to be able to do them consistently. As Wilko said, once you learn how, you can do 'em on acoustic too.
    Several guitars in different colors
    Things to make them fuzzy
    Things to make them louder
    orange picks

The gain on the Marshall is a pinch harmonic crutch.
