    Bridge rust Clean-up question

    Hey there!
My first Fender MIM strat has been sitting in the closet for a few years in pieces waiting for new life and I've decided to do it the favour and give it new life. I said I'd never sell this guitar so I might as well make it useful again. I'm getting a new neck and electronics/pick-ups for it. The bridge assembly is all together (it's the typical vintage style) but could use a good cleaning. I was wondering what the best product would be to remove rust from the tiny screws that adjust the saddles.

Whats the best product ? I dunno.

A toothbrush and coca cola will do the job. Wouldn't hurt to put a little vaseline on the area's that the strings touch metal and in the grooves where the strings go into the nut.

    Peace Out !

You might soak the saddles in naval jelly or something like that. And take a needle & dig out any rust or dirt from the sockets on the height adjustment screws. If they have debris in them & the Allen wrench doesn't set properly in the socket then you run a greater risk of stripping them out. You don't want that!

Yes, but like I said I don't intend to sell this guitar. Some of the screws require extra torque to make them turn so I'd like to clean it up a little. I like the look of it rusted but it could use some functionality.

Try soaking the parts in some WD-40, then brush with a stiff bristled brush.
