    Crossfyre Revitalized

I just want to let y'all know that Crossfyre has been revitalized over the past three or four months.
We had a great practice last night and took some time out to just talk about things. We were kind of floundering for some time trying to figure out what we could do to get more bookings etc. We decided that we weren't going to change at all from what we were. We're going back to the basics, as it were, back to the tenets that started the band in the first place. We were trying to change who we were to get more money. We started playing all sorts of "newer" songs and canvasing the downtown joints for jobs.
Let me tell you guys, it just doesn't work! What the hell were we thinking? A bunch of older "seasoned" guys with a couple younger dudes trying to get college kids to like us playing music we didn't like for venue owners we didn't like. We were being idiots!
Well last night we played some of the stuff we played 10 years back and got that old chemistry back. We've got about $1K of gigs booked right now and will be going back to the outlying towns and villages on a booking run soon. I guess we've defined ourselves as a redneck country rock with some old-timy honky tonk and classic rock band.
Also, we're going to provide a set for "LIVE BAND" Karaoke where we'll let folks sign up to sing with us for $5. We'll provide a list of songs they can pick from with lyric sheets in page protectors. If not many folks sign up we'll just do songs from our normal set list.

Man! If feels so good to be back!

Yeah, I figured we'll at least get some dough from the drunks that always want to sing with us rather it be lead or back-up on the chorus.

    Keep on keepin' on!

My band has several hundred songs that we can pull out, and we've done the Karaoke thing. It's pretty fun. People tend to like it though they get scared/surprised that they actually have to project a bit because of the volume. A real drum kit is pretty different than a DVD karaoke level.
