Got some new pics up of the American Standard.
The wife is ready to kill me over this thing (my first choice was a Daphne Blue Hwy One).
Turned out okay though.

I'm scared of such big frets!
"...pray do not imagine that those who make the noise are the only inhabitants of the field;
that, of course, they are many in number; or that, after all, they are other than the little,
shriveled, meagre, hopping, though loud and troublesome, insects of the hour."

I thought everything was bigger in Texas.I'm scared of such big frets!

Guitar looks great!
I have small hands and I love BIG frets.
I'll bet that Strat plays incredible with the jumbos.
We need to hear that Trembucker soundclip now!
NICE AXE!! LB.

Sorry folks...
I didn't mean to flame anyone about this. I probably shouldn't have mentioned the ad, but I wasn't trying to spam the site.
Personally, I think some benefit of the doubt might've been in order.
A real fine lookin ax you have got yourself there. A Strat like that could make a beating or two from the wife worthwhile! LOL 8^) But I hope she gets over it quick without harming you, that would be much better. ;^) Hope you enjoy!

If you can somehow pull it off and keep it, you have a great looking Strat there. And remember, values of American Strats eventually trend higher. Just wait for Fender's next price hike and you'll see. Maybe this can be a point in the discussion with your wife. "It's cheaper to keep it than wait and buy another one later".
I ended up keeping this strat, so I celebrated by modding it further.
I've been trying for sometime to find the perfect humbucker/hum cancelling single coil combo. I never seem to get it right and I hate those single coil sized humbuckers (ie hot rails, jb jr, lil '59 etc).
Until now...
I dug out some Kinman Woodstocks I had been saving for another project and replaced the tinny sounding SD classic stacks. That helped alot, but the bridge was still muddy and overbearing. I then picked up a SD '59 trembucker. I installed 500k pots with a .047 cap on the Kinmans and a .022 on the '59.
Voila!
I have attained balance. After some height adjustment, I have minimized the volume drop between positions without screwing up the sound of the pups.
Any thoughts?
Thats fine looking, I have been looking at an American Standard like that one.. what was it you didn't like about the stock pups?
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
