WOW, nice closet classic! Is that an ebony fretboard? LB
rosewood.
it's kind of a weird deal-somebody was obviously blowing smoke and told him it was a '56(!?) and worth $15,000. that's the kind of irresponsible, mis-guided lunacy that makes it immposible for working musicians to buy vintage gear.
wish i was a little more dishonest-i'd tell him "it's old, i'll give you $50!"(thx GJ)
That case alone must be worth over 500 bucks - right? LB
that is one nice guitar. i'd love to have it.
"don't worry, i'm a professional!"
chuck, i could make him an offer. not sure if he'd sell, but he says he never plays it anymore.
I don't keep up with prices anymore, but an original custom color finish in that condition (there's no belt buckling, right?), and the tortise guard should push it up towards the higher end of the Jazzmaster spectrum.
Red's a lot more common, than say, burgandy mist, but less common that white or sunburst.

Clean Pre-CBS custom color JMs of that era are approaching $5000-$6000 range according to prices in Vintage Guitar Magazine dealer's lists. That white Tolex case really helps with the value.

Really need to look at condition and verify everything is on the level. Needs to be inspected by a knowledgable person, like me.
here is my address to send the guitar.................

similar vintage, different model. Not cheap
do I look like I know what I'm doing?
My buddy has one for sale at 15K
You guys gotta milk every thread for puns?!
Ok cut it out, or Elsie!
You think I'm going to cow tow to that bull?!
It does look simply bovine. I think Fripperton was steering you in the right direction with the value. $500 would be way tallow for the current marketplace. I mean that's what they were going for when I was a calf. Although if it was going for that price, I'd horn in on that action.
Me, I'd offer heiffer $2,500 for the deal, and see if they're willing to chew the cud.

Damn! That stampede of puns grazed me!
You guys are making me sick to my stomachs.
because all of the tripe?
you're mooooooooooving me to tears, ovah here!
Imanidiot.
If I were you, I'd hoof it over to his house before someone else makes an offer. Heck, it might end up being the sweetest sounding guitar you've ever herd.
It would behoove everyone to at least try to show a little restraint.
If you're all willing to quit your yakking, I'm willing to let bison be bison.

Get over there and ponie up enough cash that the owner doesn't need to rebuff a low offer.
I know... I know. but it wasn't my first choice. It was secondairy.
I'd avoid selling a guitar in a ballpark.
You're likely to get the run around, or low ball offers that are way off base.
I think you get the pitcher.

they had cows in ballparks back in '63?. Musta been tough to play in those days
do I look like I know what I'm doing?
They were restricted to the bullpen.
