    Fender Dating.

I have seen some strange dates on some Strats lately. For instance the serial number on the headstock may indicate it's a 1988 but the butt of the neck is stamped 1990. Also the body is inconsistant as well. I have noticed this on more than one neck. The serial number did not appear tampered with, on both examples.
Does anyone know or might be able to shed some light on this subject?
The guitar in question at the moment is a 1988 Yngwie model. All other aspects of this guitar fit the descriptioon for that model year. Bridge type, color, pickups, tbx etc...

I had a similar question about one of my cheap strats, when I called Fender Consumer Relations I was told that its not uncommon for there to be up to two years difference (some times more on a lefty) between the time that a guitar is produced and when it is introduced. I have called them a few more times since then, and in each instance some one has patiently answered every last one of my questions.

Thanks for the info, I called and it was explained to me.
A neck or body may be completed and the serial number attach and upon final assembly they stamp it with another date. So it's not uncommon for the dates to be different. Very good info.

A mini-humbucker will do fine, thank you
