    My Hot Rod Deville... Sound clips

    I used my Epi SG, straight into the amp, 57 into my Mbox interface. No eq-ing or effects. Excuse the sucky playing...

    That's what a Deville should sound like! IMO

    And it's the 410 version.

    Oh, yeah, I forgot to tell everyone the setup here. It's a USA model, EHX 6L6GC tubes, a mesa 12ax7 in V1, chinese 12ax7 in V2 and a GT 12ax7 in V3. I will be fiddling with the pre tubes soon, though.

    How did you record?
    "...pray do not imagine that those who make the noise are the only inhabitants of the field;
    that, of course, they are many in number; or that, after all, they are other than the little,
    shriveled, meagre, hopping, though loud and troublesome, insects of the hour."

    I used Audacity. Exported to MP3 with no effects. That is actually a low volume recording, so that's without any kind of power tube saturation.

    I also forgot to mention the two other mods I made: The Boomybass mod on the Mid pot, and the reverb high pass resistor removal.

    Both those mods from the Justin site?
    Sounds nice & Fenderey to me. Are those the only 2 mods you did?
    I've thought about some of the things on Justin's site for my HRDx, but when I stuck in all NOS tubes, it brought the amp to life so much I'm not sure I need to 'fix' anything.

    Cheers,

    p.s., how's the Moreley?

    That's all I did. No tone stack value changes, nothing. Just cutting a 1/4" piece of wire and adding a 1/4" piece of wire. It doesn't change the basal characteristic Fender-y sound, but gives better control and smoothness. The high output preamp tubes make the drive very hot, yet not excessively grindy and buzzy. I like it that way, and if I put in a 12at7 or 12ay7 in V2, the drive channel gets cleaner and more bluesy.

    BTW, the Morley is working wonderfully. Great volume pedal. I changed the sweep of the wah a bit, but it was a really simple mod.
