    harsh grainy sound in princeton

I replaced the tube sockets for the power and rectifier tubes in a 1965 fender princeton reverb. I got rid of the intermitent poping but now my tone is harsh grainy and no bottom end. Also I notice a bit of an occillating sound when Im not playing anything thru it. I changed the non adjustable fixed bias to the variable resistor method and I can adjust the bias now but that didnt solve the problem. Ive got a new c10q speaker coming in the mail so Ill see if its that. anybody got a suggestion I would greatly appreciate it.

Be careful when adjusting that bias since your amps tremolo is the bias vary type. You could push the tubes over spec if you don't watch it.
Re and re-check your wiring and do it twice again. Look for cold solder joins, dull and/or grainy looking. Solder joints should be shiney.
