15" Jensen
C15PS - C8128 3
220718 - Stamped on the frame
3015B11W - stamped on cone
Just curious.
Also, any way of knowing how many W it's rated for?
Thanx.

Yes it's worth some cash. It's between an N and a Q in power rating. 20 watts, probably, when new.
Probably be nice in a Tweed Pro, or an Ampeg Geminii.

It's in my Univox amp.
When I had it fixed up, the tech asked me if I wanted to go ahead and fix the amp for what he was quoting, the other possibility being- sell the speaker for more than I paid for the whole amp.
I noticed one (not sure if it was truly the same one) on the bay that went for like $50.
Less than 1/2 what I paid for the amp.
I was toying with sticking the Jensen in my Delta Blues.
But at 20W, maybe not.

Could you put it in the Delta Blues, and pull 2 of the power tubes?
(it has 4 EL84s right?)
Might have an impedence mismatch, but it might work.
I dunno?
Would that drop the power to some sub-20W/safe level?
I was just doin' a little thinnin', is all...
in which case, it's probably good that I ask around first.

What is the impedence of the speaker in the Peavy?
What is the impedence of the 15" Jensen?
Are there 4 EL84s in the Peavy?
4 x EL84
30 watts into 16 or 8 ohms
I'm pretty sure it's 8 ohms, but switches to 16 when you plug something into the extension spkr jack.

If you pull (the correct) two, I believe you drop down to a 15W amp.
You've gotta measure the impedence on your old speaker.
Then we're in Fezz & Kap'n territory. I always forget which way it changes the impedence.
According to this the Delta Blues isn't cathode biased. However, if you're biased on the warm side if you pull two tubes the B+ could rise enough to be cooking your tubes a little more than you want.
On the other hand, if you're not pushing the amp, the speaker will probably be OK. It's just when you start getting towards max output...

You could keep feed more power into it until it burns out. That will tell you how much wattage it can handle.

If aliens listened to our current top 40, they'd think that the entire planet was populated by sexually ambivalent robots with ethnic insecurity.
In light of what the kap'n says, I wouldn't pull any power tubes.
Actually, if you like the way the Delta Blues sounds now, I wouldn't mess with it anyway.
Just get some cash for the speaker.
Or, maybe an extension cab?
This was more of a "'cuz it's there" thing.
I'm perfectly fine with the DB as is.
But I just happen to have this old Jensen on hand.
I will leave things as they are.
Thanks the info though.
