Fender Limited Edition Hot Rod Deluxe in a polished maple cabinet

Hello, I am a proud owner of a mint condition Fender Limited Edition Hot Rod Deluxe in a polished maple cabinet.
It was a great price (a just plain beautiful) and I could not pass it up.
I will be using it for Blues harp.
I own a Blues Junior and a Pro, but I do not know much about the HRD.
I was wondering if you had any suggestions for me?
    Settings etc...
    Any advice would be appreciated.
I am checking the forums as I post this.
Please forgive me if this is an over asked question.
    Thanks,
    Ray

    Hi Ray!
    Welcome.
Can't really answer your question since I'm a drummer but I see a lot of Princetons and the like (small Tweeds) being used nowadays.

There's a plethora of info regarding the HRD accessed through the search function. Some threads are biased, some informative, and some just plain entertaining. Have fun reading them..

The only thing I know about blowing harp thru a tube amp is...

    Turn the bass way up.
    Turn the trebble way down.
    Adjust the gain to taste.
& Play hard enough to distort them tubes.

HRDx should sound fine with harp.

    Keep the bright switch off.
Never, ever click the More Drive button or footswitch
Keep the gain lower and Master up
Mids can be used, but as Guitar Mc says, keep the treble lower
Experiment with lower gain preamp tubes, esp. V1

    Thanks for the fast reply!
Rickenjangle, your suggestions made a big difference!
Should I use INPUT 1 or INPUT 2?
I am using a SHURE Green Bullet and a Astatic JT-30 microphone.
Should I use the Normal Channel, or the Drive Channel?
    Thanks again,
    Ray

Input 1 on the dirty channel with just a little bit of the dirt on it. Not enough to really make it distort, but just enough that it's not "clean". You want the higher input to make that thing scream.

Normal channel, try a 12AY7/12AT7/12AT7 in V1, use 5881's or similar 'soft' tubes. This is not an optimal harp amp, but lower gain is the way to go if you want to avoid feedback. Might wanna try different speaker; a P12N or a healthy P12Q, C12P's. If you get some mods done, consider dumping some B+ and changing the tone stack to .02/.02/250pF with a 56K slope resistor (Bassman values)...
