What makes my HRD heavier than others

I have a brown tolex MIM limited edition Hot Rod Deluxe. It weighs 49.5 pounds. The stock HRDs weigh 45. What accounts for the difference in weight? Is it just that mine has a heavier speaker? Or are there other factors that account for the weight difference? Mine has a Jensen C12N whereas the stock models come with an Eminence Legend 125.

Thanks for any and all explanations,

    Al

if you're absolutely sure of the stock hrd weight....the first thing
i would check would be your scale.
i'm pretty sure that there isn't a 4.5 lb difference between the legend and the c12n.

I'm sure of the weight. It's in the owner's manual.

That's probably an average. No two pices of wood of exactly the same size weigh exactly the same.

The specs in owner's manuals are all the same. The one for the regular HRD says 45 pounds; mine, the limited edition, says 49.5 pounds. Therefore the average limited edition HRD weighs 4.5 pounds more. So the question remains, why?

It must be mojo, because the Eminence has a 34 oz. magnet and the Jensen only has a 28.5 oz.

Those were the only weight specs I could find for them.

    Isn't MDF fairly consistent though?
Tone is in the fingers, eh? Let's hear your Vox, Marshall and Fender fingerings then...

Depends how you define medium density.

    Hmmmm...

I don't know why wood particles would be more consistent than a solid board.

Well I guess you could regulate how much glue is used per board ft....

For the record The Custom shop 57 twin is listed at 24 lbs in the manual and the speakers alone weigh more than that ......

*Specifications subject to change without notice.

I'd guess glue or the MDF also.

Re: What makes my HRD heavier than others

I just weighed my Hrdx the other night (prompted by this thread)...

It weighed in at just over

    55 lbs

    Edited to add:
And yes, I did look in the back for OD & wah pedals. It was empty.

Maybe I should go and weigh mine...although with all the Sprague caps in it, I expect mine weighs much more.
