Yes, Crossroads. Its a great movie. And it is about music.Originally Posted by TonsofBlues

Yeah... got the SRV stuff... doesn't really matter what... blues, rock, etc... just love the stuff...

"Concert for George" is my favorite one.
“To do a common thing uncommonly well brings success.”
"In The Flesh" Roger Waters :- mainly Floyd stuff with Doyle Bramhall II on guitar.
"DVD" Zeppelin :- for me it's all good but the early stuff (Albert Hall 1970?) is sensational.
I'd have to add "Down From The Mountain"... even though there's not an electric note all night...
The Born To Boogie DVD is pretty cool. In addition to the film, which is sorta dated, both of the T-Rex Wembly Pool shows are there in their entirety. An interesting view into the state of the rock concert c. 1972. Some pretty good performances.
Several guitars in different colors
Things to make them fuzzy

Rory Gallagher Live at Montreux/The Definitive Collection (2006)
I was blown away and was seriously influenced by his talent when I was 14, still am. It's 4 hours long.
Basics but I thought I would mention them:
Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - Live at Montreux 1982 & 1985
I know you said the SRV stuff but that dvd is so cool I want to make sure.
+1...also +1 for the Concert for George.Originally Posted by Ayns

Pink Floyd @ Pompeii is also a very cool one.

Charlie Hunter Quintet- Right Now Live
Derek Trucks Band- Songline Live
Both are excellent. 2 really creative players who also let the whole band shine. Great stuff.
If you like Led Zeppelin, How the West Was Won is a cool thing to have.
"Well, I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused..."
Elvis Costello
I was thinking about some good blues stuff... like gathering of artists... or a Albert Collins or BB King, etc...
but thanks Neo, just order the LZ, how the west was won 'cause you reminded me...

I WANT Floyd at Pompeii......and Jimi at woodstock
Of course, tonsofblues, you know all of the DVDs I have, but for anyone else that might be interested I recommend these:
Crossroads Guitar Festival - Simply amazing
SRV @ Montreaux, Live at the El Mocambo, Austin City Limits - all three are great
SRV tribute - fantastic
Jimi Hendrix - The documentary from the 70's Clapton, Mick Jagger, and Little Richard talking about Jimi post-mortem. Fantastic.
Jimi @ Berkely - Equally great
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon- Classic Album - Fabulous insight into the classic album.
Beatles Anthology - Buy it, don't wait, now, go....
Zeppelin - THe new DVD much better than....
Song Remains The Same - .....but it is still good for what it is.
Oasis - Familiar to Millions - Not as good as their earlier concerts, but still a good one. I recommend Live by the Sea or There and Then for a better performance from their heyday.
Albert King - Live in Sweeden - Fantastic DVD.
Los Lonely Boys - Live from Austin, TX - Great performance
Dave Matthews - Central Park Concert - Wow. Dave at his finest.
That is my concert and music DVD collection. I recommend all of those....
"What would rock and roll be without feedback?" - David Gilmour
"I stand accused, just like you, for being born without a silver spoon." - Richard Ashcroft
Pink Floyd P.U.L.S.E. Outstanding stuff!!!!
Where are we going? And why are we in this handbasket?
Pulse is great but I preferred the track listing on the original CD.
Pompeii is superb.
LZ's "new" DVD is, unbelievably, 3 years old now.
'Course no-one's mentioned The Last Waltz yet.

Has Clapton played with everyone? You can play 6 degrees of clapton...

"Sony has announced that The Last Waltz will be among the first twenty titles released in its new high definition Blu-Ray DVD format in March of 2006."
Clapton's great on The Last Waltz (that's the one where his strap slips off during the solo on "Further on up the Road" and Robbie Robertson takes up the reins isn't it?)
He's also good on "Concert for George"
EDIT:- Oops I think I meant "Concert for Bangladesh"
Dylan- No Direction Home, or Don't Look Back.
They're documantaries, but NDH has alot of great concert footage!
Of the 2, I'd get NDH. Excellent.
"Well, I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused..."
Elvis Costello
If you are into Strat abuse, some of the recently released Deep Purple shows from the early '70s are worth watching.
+1 on the last waltz. Amazing to compare robbie roberston from somthing earlier like isle of wight (i think that was it) and then see him then. Playing a 2 HB tele in a leather jacket as opposed to a blond/whitegaurd tele witha suit on. Very cool
My Band: Tabula Rasa
The Last Waltz is nothing short of essential....
Another vote for Pink Floyd @ Pompei....I spent many hours killing brian cells in my dorm room listening to that one....
You gotta love how David Gilmore dodges the reporter's question about them being a 'drug band' in that one....
Nothin left to do but smile smile smile.....
+3 or 4 (I lost count) on The Last Waltz. I got it last year on DVD after knowing it some time ago on VHS. So Good.
Allman Brothers Live At The Beakon Theatre 2003 revitalized my appreciation for them beyond anything it had ever been. The second disc with interviews of how THEY think they are better now than ever with Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes is worth it alone. Magic.
Jimi Hendrix complete Woodstock set - also if you are a Floyd fan I can't recomend highly enough the Classic Albums documentary of the making of "The Dark Side of the Moon".
Another endorsement for the Last Waltz. From start to finish
"This Movie should be played LOUD."
Another vote along with funkyguitar for "Concert For George." Not only is it extremely well shot and edited, and documents some truly great and heart-felt performances, it is hands-down the best mix I have ever heard on video. Awe-inspiring audio.
The alt-indie-crazy rock documentary "DIG!" is mesmerizing as you watch Anton Newcombe fall apart, as is the Wilco doc "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart." (I'll let you draw your own conclusions as to what that film reveals about Jeff Tweedy.)
Paul Thorn "Live in Birmingham"
Brad Paisley "Mud on the Lens"
Webb Wilder - "Tough It Out"

Well, it's not really a music DVD, but a movie. I'll still recommentd because it's all about music and I like it a lot.
"That Thing You DO"!!!!!!!!!!!
SRV @ The Macombo
Nobody mentioned "This Is Spinal Tap"
If, at first you don't succeed, don't try skydiving.
Two leaps per chasm is fatal!
It's such a part of my life, I forgot it's a DVD.
Speaking of which, we just got our first band T-shirts back from the printers today.
One of the "Tourdates" on the back is
Puppet Show and Five Finger Discount - Danielson Fair
with a line through it and the word cancelled after it.
Several guitars in different colors
Things to make them fuzzy
Things to make them louder
orange picks
Oh yeah i forgot. The floyd at pompeii and dark side are both good. and all SRV at the mocambo.
CLAPTON CHRONICLES!! haha its a collection of his 80's muic videos...
My Band: Tabula Rasa
The new Neil Young DVD is awesome.
"If you're cool, you don't know nothin' about it. It just is...or you ain't." - Keith Richards
I have recently ordered Rory Gallager live, should be good, about time I listened to a little Rory.
If it's not limited to concert videos I'd suggest "Searching for the One Eyed Jesus" (several great performances and interviews interwoven with a road trip tour of the South) and "Be There to Love Me", a great Townes Van Zandt documentary.
"Go Team Venture!"
I LOVE concert for George! I bought that puppy not to long ago... Eric does a great job, not only on guitar but also as music producer... The performance of "Something" tugs at my heartstrings everytime I hear it.. I always thought the orginal was to short, only one chorus.. the way they do it is the way I thought it should have been.
That reminds me... "A Horse to Water"... was that a Harrison song? That's the only time I've heard it... I'd love to hear the orginal..
PS- GREAT DTS MIX!

TonsOfBLues, "A Horse To Water" was written by George with Dhani in the last year of his life. He was working on a final album that I think was unfinished, but "A Horse To Water" was released as a single. Sam Brown and Jools Holland kick the the ever-lovin' outta of that tune... and the idiots who sequenced the CD left that song off the record!
I was completely, utterly, endlessly in true courtly love with Sam Brown from the first moment I heard her sing and will remain so until the day I die.
+10000
If I ran away with her and populated an island.... it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world... just watching her jump on that stage.. and THAT VOICE!
I still, to this day, don't understand why they left it off the album... I thought it was one of the best performances of the night...
If I can find it, I'll pick it up... does the orginal have the same "groove" or "mojo" of that one?
