I Hope This Helps for MIM owners

My Black strat is the perfect guitar for me. I did some heavy mods to it but found a few short cuts with my Ash. I won't get into all the adjustments, just the sigificant ones. Yes, It's a MIM. First, I installed new string trees(2). After that, I lubed all the working joints with graphite. Did this with my black one and it doesn't go out of tune when I'm wanking on the trem. I just ordered a Dimarzio Fast track p/u for the bridge. It will give my leads some balls. My black one has S/D hotrails and they are simular. I readjusted the pole peices on the standard p/us and lowered the mids to 1/32 above them. Since the neck is rosewood, the result is alittle darker than my Black, but it's sounding better than original. I included a sound sample with the neck. p/u.

I love my MIM too! Just something about the natural body and r/w fretboard. I'd like to put a black pearloid p/g on mine.

How do you adjust the pole pieces on a standard pup?

They move up and down. The best way is to take the pickguard off to do it.

Really? So you can do your own "stagger"? How do you move them? Just push/pull?

They are encased in wax. You can make them look like they are flipping the finger if you want. I brought the middles down and the B string up. I don't know what moron designed the MIM p/u's but did a piss poor job. Raising the mids make your leads sound like crap because you don't have any high register. My gripe for years. Lowered the mids and raised the B and E.

My ash weighs the same as my alder. I'd say medium weight. The Light ash is like the name lighter.

    That looks nice !

One of my Strats is an older ('91) MIM. It gets as much play time as my other gee-tars. I put a Duncan JB in the bridge and CS Texas Specials in neck and middle.
