Oh my god 6105 frets too Wow!! I must have one.
Formerly Bluesgtr20
There's a pile of them over at Wildwood too (at least).
I can't quite tell if it's "just" an American Vintage 52 with bigger wire and thinner nitro. But the specs seem the same.
Thats exactly what it looks like.Originally Posted by clayville

The description in the link says "Vintage Style Frets," then "6105 frets." I'm cornfused.
Its a 52ri Tele with med jumbo frets and 9.5 radius.
The finish is 100% nitro instead of the 95% poly 5% nitro like a regular 52ri is.
They should make em all like this.
Now I'm confused too. MM and Wildwood say its 7.25" radius...
BTW, Dave's has them as well, but describes the finish as "thin nitro with no poly base coat: like the EJ strats"
Fender® American Vintage "Thin Skin Nitro" Special Lacquer '52 Telecaster #51236, Butterscotch Blonde, 7.78 Lbs, Premium Ash Body, 1-Piece Maple “U” Shaped Neck with "Thin Skin Nitro" Lacquer Finish, Fender/Gotoh® Vintage Style Tuning Machines, 7.25” Radius Maple Fingerboard, 21 6105 Frets, 2 New American Vintage Tele Single-Coil Pickups, Master Volume, Master Tone, Original Vintage Style Tele Bridge with 3 Brass Saddles and “Ash Tray” Bridge Cover, 3-Position Blade Switch, Chrome Hardware, 1-Ply Black Pickguard, 25.5” Scale Length, 1.650” Nut Width, Includes Vintage Tweed Case, Strap, Cable, Modern Six-Saddle Bridge, Bridge Cover, Capacitor and Wiring Diagram (For Updating to Modern Switching Circuit), Certificate of Authenticity,
I was wrong they are 7.25
Got them confused with another FSR that is 9.5.
All the Teles they list are "Thin Skin(ned)."
Is this one replacing the 52 RI?
If not, will it cost more or less to have less finish?
"Well, I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused..."

Its more for the thin skin finish.
I know I'm a little late on this topic, but I wanted to comment. I made a visit to MM and got to play several of the 52 tele's and some of the strats. WOW! Really good feel. The frets felt very nice...I was able to get very clean bends all over the fretboard. I'm going to try and snag one of the 52s once my tax return arrives.
How would you compare the '52 to a Nocaster.
I'd have a hard time deciding on one of these vs. a used Nocaster.
I don't have enough experience with a Nocaster to give you a fair comparison report. I wish I did though! Has anyone been able to A/B a Thin Skin 52 with a Nocaster??Originally Posted by opdev
Well I have the '51 Nocaster and absolutely love it so I guess I am in the same boat as you guys because I haven't played the '52 yet.......
:-( It would be a nice addition though. ;-)
Man I'm really wanting a '62 in Olympic White or Surf Green. How much did they let it go to your for shipped?
They should have made some of them with the 9.5" fingerboard radius IMO.
Well if they did that then they wouldn't be a '52 Ri........
The 52's have a thinner U shaped neck than the No-Casters, Different pickups, and perhaps not quite as "premium" of a piece of Ash.Originally Posted by StratTone
Well...I did it. I took a trip down to MM and put money down on one. My first Tele! Now I just gotta finish paying for it...
I should be getting my Surf Green '62 Thin Skin today. I'll let you guess know what I think. :-)
Sweet! dont forget photos!Originally Posted by StratTone
Purchased my Tele from Wildwood last week.
WOW. Mine is 6lbs 1oz of tone, tone and more tone.
Without question the best Tele I have ever played.
Be warned, they are selling very quickly and if you want one do not hesitate.
Congrats! Any pics??Originally Posted by rbisherw
