Japanese made. Been looking for a used Albert Collins at an affordable price, this was as close as I could get in 3 years of looking.
I'm really looking forward to getting it in hand.

very nice. What humbucker is in there?
It would be cool to have one of those Fender split humbuckers in there.

Very nice! I love the look of nat.with binding way cool...Hell I just love teles.
The pickups are the original Fender pups that it came with. Depending on how it sounds, I may put something a little extra special in there.Originally Posted by photoweborama

That's nice. I've never seen a nat finish with binding before, I like that a lot!
Christmas eve and day are both excellent times to watch ebay for deals. You'd think people would learn by now.
A friend in need is a good reason to screen your calls.
That is lovely, which Ebay did I miss that beauty on, US or UK?
It was on US E-Bay, but it is coming from Japan. Supposedly it was a special order through the japanese factory, but I have no way of verifying that, but I have not seen one before in all the time I have been looking for an affordable Albert Collins model. Heck, you can't even find a used Albert Collins at all and ordering a new one through a dealer is just too expensive for me.
I sent the money through Pay Pal today, hopefully have have the guitar in hand in a week or so.
You will never miss the USA Albert C after you play that one.
I tend to agree and this one only cost me $634.00, as long as it's as advertised, I don't see how I could go wrong.Originally Posted by Marcondo
If you dont like it for some strange reason it would bring around $650-750 so its a win/win the way I see it.
I'm such a big Albert Collins fan that if for some reason I don't like the way it plays/sounds and can't mod it so I do, I would just make a shrine out of it.Originally Posted by Marcondo

Great find :) I'm fond of the Albert Collins CS myself, but the price is steep.
Are you going to tune it in open Fm or standard?
i bet this really annoy's you if your a grammar freak.
I mess around with the Fm and capo from time to time. What I really need now is a quad reverb for the livingroom. :bugOriginally Posted by Power_13

I`ve never seen a Fender Japan version of that though Bacchus made one. It is quite possible it was special made for a chain of shops in Japan, happens all the time and thats the reason I never generalize with FJ...there are just so many models out there. Have a look on the back of the headstock to see if it has a custom edition sticker, sometimes special orders do, and there may be some kind of stamps in the neck pocket to help ID it.
Looks great, hope it plays and sounds the same.

Somewhat new to the Fender forum here. Looking at a MIJ Jerry Donahue model, it sounds like from this thread that some of you guys think the MIJ models were pretty well spec'd and put together?
Lusso....yes! If you search a bit, you'll find that some folks think the guitars are great and some agree but think the electronics are not so good. Some folks think MIJ vs. "Crafted in Japan" is a legitimate debate, while some folks think they are the same. Some folks think that the once imported into the USA during the 90's are not as good as the 'non-export' ones.
But most folks dig 'em. I like them a lot.
There's some good background info here: www.guitargai.com
This is the bitterest pain to human beings: to know much and control nothing.
I'm totally digging the MIJ's myself. Looking at the TL52-80SPL (just not sure about the neck...it's oval). It's a lot like the one Telerat just purchased. I was looking at that same guitar TR! Very nice score...wished I would have bid on it! Let us know how it sounds and plays.

Ok, I live in New York (on long island).
I paid for this guitar Monday night, the guy shipped it from Tokyo on Tuesday evening and it showed up today at 9 a.m. Is that fast or what? I have waited much longer to have things shipped from e-bayers who live under 100 miles away.
Anyway, it's here in one piece and just feels awesome, very light weight. The Bridge pup is not to my liking, but the humbucker neck pup actually sounds good, so i will probably leave it for now..
I got this guitar from http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZmij...skatanaQQhtZ-1
And I would not hesitate one minute to order from him again if I see something I like. I'm going to change strings and poke around the inards later, I'll see if there's a sticker in the neck pocket, there's nothing on the back of the headstock.
Dude, that was fast! That makes it an even better deal! How does it play? What type of neck profile does it have?

Hey, 95, I'm not sure if you've had an opportunity to play one of the CIJ teles, but my '62 RI has a neck that was also described as "oval". What it is, is a very chunky "C" shape. I love mine.I'm totally digging the MIJ's myself. Looking at the TL52-80SPL (just not sure about the neck...it's oval).

Plays great, I have to put heavier strings on and then give it a set up. It's set up with 9s right now. The neck feels like a "C", very similar to my classic 60s tele, maybe not quite as deep as my AMS tele. I was hoping for something a little deeper, but it's fine as is. It's very very light and super resonant, i think with the right bridge pup, it's going to be a monster.Originally Posted by 95strat

Good looking dog too. CIJ? :)
As a matter of fact his line on both sides came from Japan not too long ago.Originally Posted by pc

Hmmm, maybe I should just go for the "oval" neck. I'm use to the modern C shape on my strat. Thanks CT. I'm so close to ordering one.
TR, once again I must say that's a nice tele! Unique with the binding....I've never seen one like that.
What bridge pup are you going to throw in there? Is it a 3 way switch or a 4? Wondering if you could play the pups in a series.

Set it up with 11-48s and man what a difference .
I'm pretty sure I will be swapping out both pups as well as the pots and switch in a week or two. Maybe go for an RS kit. I really like the guitar alot as far as playability and feel ,it was definatelty worth the long search, I just think swapping the electronics will put it over the top in a good way.
As far as pups go I have had good luck with Duncan Antiquities so I'm going to check out that option first, but may go with a boutique set.
If anyone has any info on the markings in the neck pocket I would be interested in hearing about it. It does say "ORDER" in there so I wonder if it was a special order?
