    question about Strat pickup

I just got a 68 Strat pickup. How can I tell which position it belongs in, neck, middle or bridge?

Alot of the Fender Strat pickups all had the same ohm readings so it doesnt matter where you put it.

But it might be a good idea to check the ohms of the other 2 pickups and see what they read. You usually put the lowest ohm one in the neck next highest goes in the middle and highest one goes in the bridge.

I think the reason for this is at the neck the string vibrations are greater so it can sound as full as the others cause it gets more string vibrations. As you get closer and closer to the bridge the string vibrations arent as great so you need hotter pickups to balance out the tone.

    Hope that helps ya.

I found that what Marcondo said is true. The neck and middle are the same (lower), and the bridge is higher.

But how would you know which one you got without measuring all three?

Maybe try the Seymour Duncan forum. Pickup lounge.

Usually the wires to the bridge pickup are real short and the neck longer than the middle thats the easiest way to tell.
