I had my first lesson today in about 3 years. I was excited about learning some new things and I got what I wanted....to learn some new stuff on the first day. I left feeling good about the lesson and look forward to going back next week. It was a good day. :)
I'm on it once the diss in dead. I had a good day today. I didn't right much but things fell into place after a despairing week. I look forward to lessons.
Yeah, I've been thinkin' bout taking some more lessons lately. Ever since I picked up my guitar from the shop and the tech layed some evil scales down on my fretboard. :! Made me pretty green with envy.
Although I'm 28, does that count a little?

I take lesson every 6 months or so. I take them for about 3 months and then I spend the next 6 months trying to work it into what I play. Then I go back for more. I am not a natural at guitar. I need all the help I can get. And it does help!

I'm new to guitar...around 2 years. The first year I tried to teach myself, which was a slow process. Then I started lessons, it helped quite a bit. I only have a lesson every other week, but it's still too much information with having to take care of the house, pets, and 4 kids.
I'm gonna take a break again, and work on all the stuff I've been given over the next few months.

How about 46? I took lessons for a short while last spring and they really helped. My teacher is great but it's difficult to teach a self-taught older fart coming back to guitar after a 12 year layoff.
It's boring to go over basics but I'm not ready for advanced. We did do a bit of back-and-forth trying to find my weaknesses and fill in the blanks. I recorded a couple of lessons, at his suggestion, and that REALLY helped. I stopped because I found out that by playing along with his stuff on the tapes I was learning a lot. So instead of continuing to pay $30+ per hour I bought a Tascam CD GT-1 trainer and have been working on my own with CDs I slow down.
This forum is a great place to learn as well. There are several threads with TB, OA and Curtis explaining the secrets of modes and scales. I've saved a lot of it and am trying to work through it on my own.
Might be time to call my instructor and do a couple of other face to face lessons though. He showed me exercises and techniques that really do help with control and finger efficiency.

I'm 47 and just started lessons again a couple of months ago. I'm taking from a killer teacher that is working hard on correcting my bad habits, giving me some excellent technique, and weaving everything together with great examples. My only mistake is not going to this guy back when I first started playing
I too am looking to improve, attend some jams, and maybe find some folks that might be interested in working up to a semi regular gigging situation.
Come hell or high water I am going to get decent at playing this thing.

I didn't start playing till I was in my mid-30s.
Very over 30 and I take lessons from 2 local teachers, 8 times a month--keeps me busy and honest! Been at one for over 2 years straight, lots of theory for my small little brain to handle some time, but we work on all aspects, not just the theory. The other is all acoustic finger-picking blues (Lightnin' Hopkins et al.) and resonator slide stuff from Fred Sokolow (wrote some useful books on Fretboard Roadmaps as well as Slide DVD instruction video). I'm probably the oldest student either of my teachers sees!
I currently have only one student -- he's 90 years old!
