I don't know the specifics, but, it does not have the same amount of data storage a DVD has so the resulting picture sound quality is not as good, the few I own look a bit better than a VHS tape, but no where near as good as a DVD.

He is incredible and LOUD .

I saw him open for Clapton a couple of years ago. Great short show that was very intense.

A DVD can be played directly by a DVD player, or on a computer with a DVD reader, while a VCD is more like a CD with a movie file on it, i.e. unplayable on a TV set with a DVD player. Or am I wrong?

the biggest difference between DVD and VCD is the video compression format and the bitrate. A DVD video is MPEG2, while the VCD uses MPEG1 compression. DVD has a max bitrate around 9MBit with variable bitrate possible, VCD has a fixed bitrate of 1150kbit for video plus 224kbit for audio. DVD allows for subtitles and multiple audio streams muxed into the video etc. etc. Plus, a DVD is a DVD, and a VCD is a "normal" CD.
