Truss rod? Is it bust?

I re-strung my Strat yesterday and as I was tuning it I noticed that if I tap the back of the neck it rattles. If I put my hand one the neck and tap it it stops rattling. Now, I dont know if it's just loose or if it's bust.

does it sound bust?? I hope not.

What kind of Strat is it?

If it's an American Series, American Standard or an American Deluxe it has a Bi-Flex or two way truss rod.
If the truss rod is in it's middle position it might rattle. You can turn it slightly either way and it shoud stop rattling.

Most other Strats have a standard truss rod. If it's left completely loose it might rattle.
Tighten it slightly until the rattle goes away.

If the truss rod nut won't mve don't force it. If it spins free, you might have a problem.

Check other things like the machine heads for the source of the rattle before making adjustments.

It's a US Strat Plus so I think it has go the Bi-flex.
I'll swing on an allen wrench tonight to see if I can stop it.

I hope it's not your truss rod. My Strat plus had the rod break or something quite a while ago. I hadnt played the guitar in a while and when I went to play it one day the neck was way bowed. The adjustment would turn with no effect on the neck. I had to buy a replacement from Fender but first had to send my old neck back. The new neck is OK, but I really liked the way the first one felt.
