    Knopfler sound

I'm trying to achieve this kind of sound, expecially the red schecter one. I have a '90 standard and I got original pups and emg sa, but I think they are (the sa) too hot, too much fat tone...
I read somewhere that the red schecter has duncan alnico2, but which model ? the pro ?

    Thanks

He went through a few pups on that guitar if I remember correctly: Stock, some SD vintage model, then SD Alnico Pros.
Look to that grito character, he rocks!

i've got a set of Kinman Blues, and IMHO, they nail a sweet Knopfler-esque tone in position 2. actually made me a user of that position. was always too country for me, but the Blues makes that position waaaaay more meaty and usable.

Isn't the Knopfler sound less a pickup issue and more a picking issue? I know he dosen't use a pick usually and has a unique attack to his playing.
I always thought that position 2 with standard pickups into a good tweed-type amp gets you very close.
